Find Hood with Hood Scoop

Came across this 2006 DC on TikTok and it has a sick hood scoop and I’ve been trying to find it. The guy who posted the video gets a ton of comments asking where to get the hood and doesn’t respond to any of them. I tried to do some of my own research and the closest thing I could find was the Hannemann Fiberglass hood but that’s still not the same hood as this one. I messaged him so I’m also waiting to see if he’ll respond. His TikTok and instagram is Nardo.tundy if anyone wants to go look at those.

 

It looks as if it were grafted to his original hood using a scoop from a 3rd gen taco trd pro

 

There's a fiberglass hood with scoop for our trucks, but I want to say it had some outrageous 4-digit price tag to it. One of the Cali members whose trucks caught fire last year has one/had one. I think the hood was for sale in the 1st Gen Marketplace for a minute there.

Grafting would work, but may require more skill than most have. Welding sheet metal isn't remotely easy for beginners. And you'd want to keep the hood reinforcements in place for obvious reasons.

I think you’re right, it looks pretty similar

 

I will never understand the application of fake hood scoops. If it's actually functional, I can see some cooling plusses. Other than that, dumb. Might as well throw some of those Auto Zone fender ports on while you're at it. Back in the day a hood scoop meant you had some serious HP with a ram air 4BBL. Today, borderline RICE. But hey, that's just like my opinion, man.

 

I agree. Only a top mount intercooler would be a reason to put a scoop on these trucks and that's a drastic stretch.

 

Was gonna say the same thing . . . it's not like the air intake sits under there and is tied into it.
If it's to let cooler air in and force hot air out, you've got other issues.
If you're looking to introduce a bunch of dust & dirt into your engine compartment, then I guess it'd work well for that.
Maybe you could french-in some boujie LED light in there and get some sort of cyclops program going on.

My 2008 tacoma TRD Sport with the hood scoop, i cut it open and built a down scoop so it would blow down onto the TRD supercharger. Did it help, probably not, but i tried. I did see it pull power as the supercharger got heat soaked, as the intake air temps rose, the ECU pulled power, so i made a bigger reservoir for the coolant as well. This seemed to help the most but i only really needed to make 1 pass to get what i wanted, i rarely beat on it back to back except for occasional fun beating up all the donks and caprices and mustang crowd. I would race them back to back without worry.
I also put it in super stock sleeper mode sometimes.

Was in production about 16 years ago, so no clue if its still even made.

i see, well if that's the case, then I still believe more than likely it's the VIS racing hood

 

I think it might be custom or welded together from a tacoma hood

 

yea I agree, custom job.
looked closer at the vis hood and his doesn't match up on a few details.
either had a 3rd gen hood grafted or an air design stick on hood scoop molded flush on to his hood.
