I read that about 100,000 V-6 TT engines may be replaced. I don't know if all the Tundras in the recall will be, or if some owners will wait to see what happens. I'm not a hot-rodder, but if 1000s of engines are pulled prior to developing trouble, wouldn't those be great to hot rod things like Nissan Sentras, Dodge Neons, '77 Vettes, and 1993 S-10 and Ranger pickups? They have a lot of power and they might be dirt cheap. I can imagine one of those would make a 1977 Triumph Spitfire move down the road!

Engines replaced by Toyota won’t be put up for sale on the open market. They’ll be destroyed or possibly repaired by manufacturer.

Toyota is requiring the dealers to drill holes in them before shipping them back out. No one will be getting any of the old engines to play with.

A fun notion but probably too many other easy crate motor solutions.
How do you like your 1794?

Won’t happen. Toyota will not allow any of the recalled motors to be purchased by any person or company.

Well, hell, I was looking forward to 108,000 high-tech Tundra engines for sale for cheap and the day you'd see re-engined replica cars like the fake MGTDs, and Mercedes SSKs, plus Plymouth Prowlers. Can you imagine the HP to weight ratio of a Nash Metro, Pinto, Vega, or Dodge Neon with one those 400 HP motors?

Re: the question about my Tundra, the 2015 1794 is the best vehicle I've ever owned. We bought it in FEB, 2020 with 39,000 miles; clock says 190,000 now. It's reliable, it does everything well. Drove over to go camping & canoeing on the Wabash River this fall. No worries. Mind you, I live in Idaho, and that's 4,000-mile drive towing a big tent and a 30-foot trailer* through 8 states. We'd never seen a 2nd Gen. Tundra or a 1794, but the truck was ours 30 minutes after the test drive: my wife fell in love with it and cut a check to seal the deal. The ride's great on the highway...but I often pull trailers for work and once a guy had to throw in a 2,000-lb. pallet of feed in the bed he forgot to tell me he needed, and the truck hardly sagged with the load.

*An 18-foot car hauling trailer with a 27-foot boat strapped onto it (the big canoe visible in my avatar). I drive to a lot of fur trade rendezvous'. Here's us camping out at the rendezvous.
