I have a chance to buy Hitachi Tundra Shocks (SR5), but they don’t include springs. Can I use my Trd sport Springs with those shocks? My goal is to find a cheap way to have a softer less rough ride. I’m on the highway most times and I feel most bumps. Any thoughts?

I swapped my TRD sport suspension for TRD off road suspension, the coil overs are the exact same length and I gained 1” upfront with the OR suspension. I don’t think you’ll get a softer ride with the sport spring and different shock.
If I were you I’d look for off-road take-offs or SR5 take-offs complete and then it’s a super simple swap.

This is the before and after, changing from the sport suspension to the off-road. I’d say it is a noticeably softer ride than the sport.

Great advice ! I will wait till I find the springs with the shocks. You’re making it tempting to just go for the off road shocks and springs. I currently have a 2.5” spacer in the front, so if I go with off road shocks I may need longer break lines. I would love a little more lift in the front. I gotta figure this out. I hate the current freeway bumpiness. Your truck looks great! I love the red!

I was wondering about that, your truck doesn’t look like the standard low front of the sport. The spacer probably doesn’t help the already stiff ride.
I was able to get the off-road complete coilovers and rear shocks for 400, then put them on in the driveway with the neighbor. If you’re not doing it yourself I’d check on costs for the swap, the shops around me wanted $1000-$1200 in labor for a simple swap which almost makes it not worth it.
Thanks! I’ve never been a fan of red but I love this red for some reason.

Wow pricey mechanic fees! Yeah, I’m not mechanic savvy, so I don’t know why the spacer causes a more stiff ride but because of that I think that I will just probably go with the standard SR5 hitachi shocks. I would hate to swap them in my garage for no added benefit. And the shocks are only costing me 100 bucks on offer up.

if you’re still out there, how tight did you tighten the bolts? I Actually am a beginner at mechanic stuff, but it seems easy enough on the YouTube video.
    Thanks again.

having help and the proper tools is important. I googled all the specific torques for each bolt I removed or loosened. I’m not a mechanic by any means but the neighbor knows his stuff, it was fairly simply but again, having the right tools is important.

OK, I’ll go ahead and look those torque numbers up. Thanks

Yeah Jer Your truck is great looking, I like how well it drives around corners. I put it in sport mode and hit the gas and it holds the corners well.my only complaintabout our truck style is the inside lighting sucks and the air conditioning and heater wind power is really weak in my truck, how about yours?

haha I thought my heater was broken it’s so bad, I have to let it warm up for 10 minutes when it’s cold. And yes it barely blows.
i don’t have corners where I live, just potholes, so the softer ride was needed.
I haven’t really had any issues with the lighting but I guess it’s not great when I think about it, especially with my daughter in the back.

thank you, they’re 285/60R20, about an inch difference from 32.5 stock to 33.5

lots of room with no rubbing.

Did you swap the spare? And thanks, think I’ll go with that same tire.

not sure if I want to find some off road take offs or just go with M1 or 5100s etc
