ALL 12V Outlets NOT working - Post 12V USB charger install - 2017 Toyota Tundra SR5 4x4 5.7L

    Working on a 2017 Toyota Tundra SR5 V8 Tundra 4x4.


    Just did a radio install, with the AJT knobs for the 4WD and climate controls, while I was at it, I thought I would get cute and install a 12V USB-C 65 watt from Amazon in place of the regular 12V Toyota plug in the front.


    Everything works from Trail Grid Pro like a champ (except TPMS and Fuel % - odd, but I'll call them on Monday).


    Started the truck, and no power to any front or rear 12V outlets. I found one blow 15 Amp fuze, but all the other 15 and 30 AMP fuzes in the engine bay and under the driver side were good. Replaced the fuze, still no power, so I disconnected the 12V I just installed, and still no power.


    At this point not sure what I else I can trouble shoot or replace.


    Appreciate the help on figuring out how to restore power to the 12V outlets (front and rear)

    Did your radio kit come with an obd2 plug so it can get data to display on the radio?

    I got the Maestro idata link RR with the stereo and it has an OBD plug which I didn’t connect as it wasn’t in the video. However, it was in the directions on the website.....
    Soooo.....looks like I'll be connecting the OBD plug to the SONY 9000ES, which kicks butt.

    Now....just got to figure out why the 12V outlets are not working...lol. While I'm connecting the OBD, hopefully someone will have some help on that one...lol.
    In that arena, there were no directions (thank you China) so at least I'm pure, shooting .500 today :(

    Sure did. It was a terminal I hadn't connected when I did my install. I pulled up the console and it was laying there unplugged staring at me...

    You need to connect the obd plug so the maestro can read data from the obd port..

    Yep! Done - now just need to figure why I lost 12 V to all the locations front and rear :(

    How did you wire up the USB C? How did you tap for power?
    I would remove each individual fuse and check each for continuity..verify each one then put it back. To rule out if you had missed one.

    Here is your outlet wiring diagram.
    It has it's own fuse.
    Might be a relay issue..

    I wired it using a connector to the same + and - wire that were there from the original 12V for the truck. I removed the fuze from the Amazon 12v USB-C charger (65W) and soldered in a connector on the OEM a the Amazon so I could connect them.

    Will do!

    Any idea on which relay?

    But you did verified which wire on the truck is + and - before you add your connectors, correct? By verify i mean using a multimeter to see which wire is + ..

    yep - sure did

    what has me confused is that I disconnected the 12V (front right) that I played with and the rest still don’t work. Unless they’re all wired in series I should be able to remove the front right 12V outlet from the circuit and the rest function as normal. On the road but I’ll check the diagram.

    They are not wired in series..
    Did you test the circuit for a good ground with your meter?
    They do seem to all have a common ground - J2.

    Auto part store didn't have a new relay, so I swapped the "DEICER" relay with the adjacent "TOW TAIL" relay. No change to any 12V outlets in the vehicle.

    DEICER fuze looks to be in the position of * 8 P/Outlet No. 1 Relay based on the diagram and I have my fuze box images in the post for reference.

    About to go check the ground. I have the day off tomorrow so I can play around with this.

    Any other thoughts/ideas? Connection that could be lose somewhere that I should verify (center console?), etc.

    Okay! I am the ultimate bonehead, the problem is that, yes, I had a blown 15 Amp fuze, and the guidance above is good, but the reason I lost all the outlets is that after installing the Head Unit (HU) / Car Stereo I failed to connect the center console 12V back. Once I did that, huzzah, power to all 12v outlets! Problem solved!
