I was tempted to ask for that one knob to be reply banned from that thread but then I thought better of it.

 

Wife now says it had been making some kind of whirring or whining noise with increasing RPM that I now think must have been the bearings going out.

 

@GODZILLA To your question from yesterday that I missed, my ruptured ear drum is due to an ear infection I had a couple weeks ago. Doctor told me it will probably heal up by about the end of January.

 

I prefer to carry the conversation and let them hang themselves into a site ban. A reply ban just makes them think that they hurt feelings. A site ban says they effed up.

Does anyone in this thread build or game on PCs?

 

In my 20’s I would have been the dick saying that shit.

In my 30’s I’d have tried to wordsmith my question better.

My potential foray into PC gaming is in it's infancy. There is a game in development that is a couple years away that I may want to get one for. I know jack and shit about PC building aside from the following:

• I want an AMD processor, intel screwed the pooch
• I do NOT want water cooled anything
• I don't want to have to upgrade it for a decade with good graphics and performance (IDK if this is feasible)
• If has to be easy to keep clean because my part of the country generates dust like no other

I know there's a bunch of prebuilt or PC building sites like meta PC, NSXT, Apex Gaming, etc. but IDK how good or bad any of them are. Tips? Advice?

 

I agree with @GODZILLA ; no need on my part. It is just a good example of why I cannot be a mod.

 

I used to build gaming PC's for many years but got tired of chasing the latest/greatest. Since you said the game is possibly years out, my only input is wait until it's closer to release. Hardware these days seems to become obsolete very quickly and you won't really know the minimum requirements until then. This also gives you more time for research.

 

Yeah, that's kind of my plan, but I also have a buddy that is trying to lure me to PC. Sony has pissed me off pretty solidly with their conduct this year, so I'm not exactly primed for another console anyway. If I were to get/build one in the next few months to a year I know I'd find some games to occupy me until the one I'm eyeing comes out.

For example, said buddy pointed out Foxhole to me and it looks interesting.

I really do miss pc gaming because mouse and keyboard seemed so much more responsive than trying to drive joystick direction.

That was actually one of the few times my wife didn't need to eat more after a fancy meal. We did the x number of courses (7, maybe?) tasting menu and they had both a regular one and a vegetarian one.
