While it's hard to beat TFL, if you're ever in the area you should try The Kitchen in Sacramento. Michelin Star restaurant and very, very, very good. Price is going to be a whole lot better than TFL and the food quality is absolutely outstanding.

Don’t get me wrong. I love wildly expensive cuts of steak as much as the next guy. But I do not boil it in a plastic bag.

Sous Vide is for reheating smoked meats, IMO. It's a great way to reheat pulled pork or brisket without it drying out or anything.

I have a sous vide machine, and used it to great success with a few things. It takes guess work out of some tasks, like getting a piece of meat to exactly this temp or that.

I do like sealing up brisket or other meat and reheating it in the bag in some water; but just boiling it does that well, without the cost and trouble of sous vide. If you need a piece of food to hit a specific temp, though, sous vide is perfect at that. Plus, if you like eating microplastics...

Sous vide is just a method, not necessarily an appliance. I just use a pot of hot/boiling water for reheating, like said. As for cooking something... never done it.

I do know that is how Olive Gardens are so consistent regardless of location, though. Everything comes in a bag and they sous vide it all. Borders on impossible to screw up and results in one of the cleanest restaurant kitchens you'll ever see.

If it's at a restaurant and they're only doing it to reheat, I suppose it's better than microwaved, but really on the same playing field.

I don't know if boiling in a bag is considered the same as sous vide - - the latter being a means to get food to a very specific temperature (at or under 210°F). Some things are very hard to cook any other way (specifically something like a 'boiled' (but not boiled) egg, with fully cooked white and soft yolk).

I'm a fan of Maillard reaction flavors, so I have limited uses for sous vide, but it's a totally legit method.

I was just going off the definiton.

I imagine it could be handy for specific things, but I don't eat anything that really requires it.

So, it kinda tastes like a liquified carbonated Luden's cherry throat lozenge with some sour notes. That being said, we used to eat those things like they were candy in elementary school because we couldn't actually eat candy in class but throat lozenges and cough drops were okay. :)

I don't hate it but it's not in my top 5 Ghost flavors.

Fanciest meal I've ever had: on our honeymoon, the wife and I went to Canada's only five diamond restaurant. It was obviously amazing but definitely a once in a lifetime experience for us.

Turns out the Corolla needs a new alternator. Just barely made it to the mechanic before the battery died.

Well, hopefully it's easy to get to. Shouldn't be to expensive for parts, though.

Sous vide is fancy for boil in a bag. We river rats have been doing this for ages. For us it's all about how easy it is to put a complete meal in a vacuum sealed bpa-free bag, boil it up and feed the team in one fell swoop with very little mess or on river prep.

    You just wait
Oh no, it's gotten to the point where even I am struggling to recall. Family and coworkers have teased me about not being able to keep track of my vehicles and the modifications that I make to them. Just now a guy on the 4Runner forum was asking about anyone with experience with tuxmat floor mats and I started to tell him how much experience I have and then I couldn't remember if I have had them in three or four vehicles lol. I feel like I had them in my tundra but I don't know for sure :anonymous:

I usually clean the carpets with the Lowes Bissell rental.
6 months ago the wife decided to have it done 'professionally'.
Not only did that fucker move so fast you'd of thought he was fire, but the bedrooms smelled like soap for months.

So the wife asked (told me to) clean the carpets before my shoulder surgery.
Off today and it is probably the warmest day for a while, 77°, so I can open all the windows.

I go over it 3 times with the rental.
    1 soap
    2 hot water rinse
3 and extra vacuum to get water out

This is the water on the clean water rinse, I think I'm going to go over 1 more time.
Hiring the carpet cleaner guy with the equipment in his van was a complete waste of money..
