OBD Fusion with 3RD Gen Tundra info?

Mayan, reference post 363, would you be able to help a newbie here trying to understand?

The sensor readings you show were through your Veepeak and OBD Fusion via CarPlay, and were for your 2023 Tundra?

The PIDs were listed on CarPlay, eg for oil temperature?

I didn't see Transmission temperature, was that one of them?

Like OldandFat says, "22+ Tundras not supported" is what most posts have said in the past

How can I see what the PIDs that came with the Toyota/lexus/scion addition to ODB fusion

I have these three on a dashboard to monitor Tranny temps before I install this cooler.
-A/T Oil Temperature 1
-A/T Oil Temperature 2
-torque converter(user entered PID)

Are the first two for the transmission? Why is there 2? I assume A/T means automatic transmission?

My torque converter hits 235 with very little payload in the long bed 5.7.

Where can I find a more detailed explanation of the abbreviated factory PIDs?

 

first add a display and select how you want that display to look, then select PID (on the last screen) and then Toyota, Lexus, Scion. That will bring up all the purchased PID's for you to choose through.

For the transmission temp use A/T Oil Temperature 1 and for the torque converter you'll want A/T Oil Temperature 2.

So I guess A/T Oil Temp 2 should be reading the same as the user defined PID(torque converter) that I entered.
I will keep my eye on that today.

Yes those for pan and converter temps.

I’m no longer using the Fusion app. I couldn’t get Fusion to connect to my Veepeak. I’m using Fusion on a new head unit and ended up having to use the Torque app.

 

Sorry to hear that. OBD Fusion works well for me and I purchased the Toyota PID's package. I like it as it can display it in CarPlay, no dashboard but line items. Pretty slick actually.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get Fuel Used until manual reset? The stock (Torque Pro) Fuel Used PID resets every time the device powers on/off. I'm looking to either reset it manually at the pump via the app, or even better when I reset Trip A or Trip B on the dash. I just installed the Transfer Flow 46 gallon tank and the gauge is off so looking to see how may gallons I've used over Trip A for example.

2011 RWDC, Torque Pro but I am okay switching to a different app if this is possible.....

 

I'm pretty sure my scan gauge can do that.^

 

Super digging this Veepeak deal with OBD Fusion via CarPlay. I haven’t set up a fancy gauge cluster on my phone screen, but have the PIDs I want on my head unit for driving.

Currently monitoring:

Trans temp
Converted temp
Oil temp
Coolant temp
Current gear
TCC lock status

 

I bought the veepeak on Amazon and paid for the obd fusion app using iphone 18.2 ios. I dont know if it is the app or the adapter but it willl not connect to the truck. The app connect to the adapter but won't connect to the truck to pull data. Waited 10 mins for it to connect and it won't. Tried it on an android phone and it fail also, saying not obd2 compatible and to check quality of adapter.

Anyone using something else other than veepeak to pull atf pan data?

It doesn't do it automatically the 1st time you use it. You have to initiate connection on the phone.

Yup. Went through all that multiple times. After hitting connect, it'll go through it com process. Then it said it is connected to the adapter. Next up is connecting to the vehicle. This is where it just spins. I waited 10mins with the truck running like it told me to. After 10mins i gave up and tried it on my samsung phone. It also failed. I probably spend over 30 mins teying all different way and it still doesnt want to communicate with the truck. Under setting i tick the 2nd option for communication, bluetooth ble not normal Bluetooth or wifi. That's what it said to do. Still cant get it to work. This stuff should take like 5-10mins top to setup. Not over 30mins. Im not sure why i am having a hard time with this adapter.

 

I guess the next step would be to try another vehicle. There could be a problem with the OBD port.

 

That could be a possibility. But i think i have ruled that out. My jvc radio with maestro rr is still able to display vehicle info and validated the pids. I also hooked up my pc with techstream and was able to make changes like lights and warning tones.
So, it's either the app itselft or my adapter is faulty.??

 

I'd try it on another vehicle. If it fails there, you need to get a different adapter

 

So i tried it on the wife’s 2010 rav4. It picked up data fine using torque pro app running android radio.. found an older android phone and load up torque pro app and tried it on the truck.. would not pick up data. Will connect to adapter but not the truck. I am sending it back and getting a replacement. Will try again next weekend when the replacement veepeak show up..

 

Does the meistro plug into the obd port? could that be interfearing with the dongle?

 

Yes it does. But i unplugged it so there is zero interference for the adapter..

 

Ok update. I feel like an idiot. Here is the fix.
I thought it was the adapter being faulty or the app but it was neither. I have the jvc 10" radio with maestro rr. Under the OBD2 communication i had turned it on to "Always Enabled" because last time i was trying to see if my radio would display transmission fluid temp. There is an option for it but it is X and greyed out. Wont let me pick it. Turning on Always Enabled thinking it would let me pick it. But it still won't. But forgot to turn it back to "Auto Disable"... tonight i thought maybe it had something to do with the maestro. So i put it back to "Auto Disable" and what do ya know. The adapter picked up the truck very quickly. Then i was able to add in the ATF pan and torque converter for display.
It was a Doh! Moment for sure.

Moral of the story, leave OBD2 Communication to Auto Disable if you have Maestro compatible Radio like kenwood, jvc, pioneer. Etc..
Otherwise they will fight each other for data and the Maestro WILL win.

Has anyone figured out a Fusion PID for third Gen trans temps?

I purchased and used the 2012 enhanced diagnostics for my 2012 Tundra. It had both pan and TC temps.

Fusion doesn't have an enhanced pack after 21.

 

Been a few months since I checked but for some reason they still don't have them. I use the Car Scanner app. Their 2016 PIDs have been working for me.

 

Wanna make sure I got this right.

i saw CarPlay mentioned, but no gauges displayed still? Anyone using a dongle for wireless CarPlay? Any concerns there (taking over BT or WiFi for example?)

 

I can't even get any of my PIDs to show up on my radio using wired

I've got the same set up as you.

 

I have mine working well with my VeePeak, OBD Fusion, and JVC 10” HU. Wireless CarPlay doesn’t.

Are you selection your PIDs via your phone and Fusion app? It’s a little clunky, but it works. I did not build screens on my phone with gauges, as I don’t ever use my phone with it alone unless I’m just looking at DTCs in a different car.

On my HU, I open the app in CarPlay and I have a few screen pages that just display the data for the PID groups I have assembled.
Most common screen I monitor shows:
Trans pan temp
TCC temp
Oil temp
Coolant temp
Current trans gear
TCC lockup
