Hey All! New member, looking to purchase a used Tundra 2018-2021. Main use light (2k lbs and under) towing and commuter. Any recommendations on a better year?

    Welcome from NY.

2018 was the last year for the factory transmission cooler. You can always add one on the 19-21's.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! No need to worry about that tranny cooler for the light duty you described. I love my 2020.

The only thing I'd specifically look for in that year range is the larger 38 gallon fuel tank (included in a few different packages that varied by year) and LED headlights. LEDs were included in TRD Off Road, TRD Sport packages for SR5 trucks, and I believe the Limited and Platinums had them standard for the trim.

Differences in the years you list:

    • 2018 was the last year for the factory external transmission cooler, but for the light towing you are talking about I wouldn't make that a requirement.
    • 2019 last year to come with a CD player in the stereo.
    • 2020+ got apple carplay/android auto added which also removed the antenna from the right side front fender. 2020+ also saw the elimination of the flex fuel option. I would avoid flex fuel engines on earlier model years if possible.
I'm not sure what the last year was that you could use remote start and navigation without a subscription to toyota, but I know my 2019 did not require it.
