Does anyone know if there is an expiration date or mileage limit in the recent engine replacement TSB for the tundras? I am looking at buying a used 22-23 and am checking to see if recall work was already performed… I saw one with 66k miles I. It and original engine. If I bought would engine still be replaceable at that mileage? If I bought one and engine was fine could I drive it until 150k miles and then get the engine replaced?

You'd have to look up the VIN to see if it's involved in the safety recall. It's not a TSB.

    Safety recalls don’t have expiration.

My 23 has 66k miles and my VIN is part of the recall. I've called up my local dealer and once my VIN is in the phase to order I'll be getting it done.

if your truck has been running well are you considering delaying the engine replacement? I’m surprised the new engine has a 1 year warranty… im curious if some owners will just keep the new engine replacement card in their back pocket just in case… seems like most tundras are just fine

I'm not sure if that's a possibility. Last I saw they had four or five defined phases for this recall. I don't know if that would be covered 1-2 years from now.

I’ve never heard of a recall as a “use it or lose it” (within a certain limited time window) process. Generally if a recall is available, it is available for that VIN at any point (as @TakiEvo wrote). My intention if possible is to keep the engine replacement “in my back pocket”, nicely said @Ben550. I don’t plan on having the recall done until I need to, or perhaps at 10yrs in when my extended warranty expires and I’m looking to trade in. A brand new engine (long block including new turbos) with additional warranty will do wonders for trade in value.

Where does one look and see their VIN is apart of the recall? I have a 24.

The recall is only builds 02/2023 or older non hybrids.

Highly highly doubt the safety recall was done. They just started doing them a few months ago

    Nitrogen filled tires!
All the '24 have been recalled - they have a loose nut behind the wheel!

I had a 94 4x4 with the 3VZ 3.0. Had a head gasket recall early on. I put it off until I had 77k on it in ‘99, it was covered.
