I have a 2010 Toyota tundra with check engine light on with code 0985 which is Transmission Shift Solenoid control circuit E I don’t have any problems or issues with my transmission shift ok. I did flush it out and put new ATF it’s anything else I can do to fix the problem?

May be a dumb question but did you replace your transmission shift solenoid?
solenoids can wear out or go bad- giving false reading.
In addition- when you get a code, fix the problem- make sure you clear the code
Good luck- I can relate to how frustrating codes can be

No I haven’t replaced the Shift Solenoid control circuit E because It is located in the transmission I wonder if I have to take it to a transmission shop?

Unfortunately if you don’t have a trusted mechanic around- then yeah.

At 200K I went to put my truck in reverse and nothing- started grinding and going forward. I was super disappointed that the transmission was shot. In conversation with my service guy, I mentioned the guy that put a million miles on his Tundra- he turned to me and said- yeah but he went thru 3 or 4 transmissions …they don’t make cars/trucks like they used to… not even Toyota.
Good Luck- I hope it’s a cheap easy fix..

Well dang- I was lied to by a dealership mechanic….makes me question if I should of paid for the premium air in the tires (just kidding- not that naïve)
    I have an 2008 5.7L - the last 2 years I’ve spent a lot repairing this truck
I wish I had a Toyota expert here in Phoenix I could rely on- after years of keeping my hands clean- I’m back under the hood

Lacking pure abuse, these transmissions on the Tundra are extremely strong. Sure like anything they can fail, but the %
is tiny. They don't require a lot of maintenance, again lacking abuse, but maintenance when done must be done correctly.
They do appear to be prone to problems when the uninitiated get into them.

Not fair to say that a trans is unreliable because an electronic part went bad. No one says Toyota engines are bad because a couple coils fail. Shift solenoid is basically the same.
