    Here's a quick ride report.

Truck is stock weight other than a skid row trans skid...

Sorry I can't give you a stock comparison but here's what I do got.

I bought the truck a few weeks ago and it had no skid, stock springs, 5100s with a ~2" spacer lift. Stock UCAs

Imo it rode pretty bad (harsh) so I took the sway bar out and have road tripped it once as is with E rated 265/70R17 Yokohama G018s.

In that configuration it has quite a bit of body roll but was much more compliant. With my body roll than I'm comfortable with long term or with anyone else driving, so there's been some maxx links on my workbench which I thought would remedy the roll but not be as harsh as stock links with a 2" lift.. I ran my 2015 Tacoma with 884s and 5100s with no swaybar for quite a while and it felt less rolly than the 06 herein.

The 6112s with 650lb springs have much less body roll in day to day driving like roundabouts, country roads and also test evasive maneuvers that I wouldn't dare do with the stock springs 5100 and no sway bar. Noticably more stable without the swaybar.

I am debating leaving it without a swaybar now but it's so easy to take on and off I'll probably experiment.

Small bumps.. they are maybe a little firmer than the 5100s but not really? I am optimistic that altho something is sprung/valved different for body roll, that they will be quite nice off road.

Oh and they are notched 8/6. Drivers side is currently sitting 3/4" higher at 22.5 vs passenger 21.75. that's with a full tank.

I’ve managed changing the filter with it in place reaching from above, I did spill a reasonable amount of oil on the skid plate as a result and it leaked onto the ground wherever I parked for a couple days…

That's how we used to do em and the 3.4L when I worked at a lube shop. But we'd spray em down with water after.

I haven’t looked at it in awhile nor had it on the truck in months but is there a way to modify the stock skid to make filter changes easier? I have a fumoto valve in the sump so that’s no issue

You could possibly cut this wing off where you can access the filter from beneath

Not easily from the looks of it. I wonder if anyone has installed a remote oil filter on one of these trucks, move it up top?
I’ve always appreciated the oil filters on BMWs I’ve had, cartridge filter from the top on the engine.

The Skid Row skid plate doesn't have the wings on the side, so oil filter changes are easier. I would rather upgrade the skid plate than relocate the filter.

When I had my 1st Gen, I always just took an old rag or piece of carpet and set it under the filter on top of the skid plate. Reach in from the top to take out the filter, put the new one on, throw away the carpet. Little to no mess.

The box that an air filter or oil filter comes in cut open and laid flat makes a good deflector into the oil pan when changing the oil filter. I never take the skid plate off anymore.

yup, that's what I do if I don't have a current one handy, I like to post it here for the guys, for convenience.

Edit: I seem to get one after a couple months go by and I haven't ordered anything... it's comforting, like they are checking in on me to see if I'm still alive

Did my second drain & fill of transmission pan yesterday.

Took the cold chisel to the front diff drain plug but couldn't get any movement. Hard to get the right angle with the truck on the ground. I'll buy these today or tomorrow and give it another shot.
