    Happy holidays!
I recently purchased a used 2017 Tundra crewmax Flex v8.
When I attempt to auto start my Viper alarm remote displays hood open.even though closed. Was working great previously.
Does not display open hood on truck display. I did eliminate the sensor by splicing wires but no luck. This truck does NOT have the hood switch mounted on the hood latch like other Tundras do. Has a sensor mounted behind grill on frame instead. Haven’t found where to buy another sensor if needed yet. Any ideas anyone? Many Thanks! R-ROD

Thank you Jim! I seen this product. Unfortunately my Tundra has a sensor instead of a switch and is NOT mounted to the hood latch.
Cable for sensor instead of microswitch is hardwired.IMG_5243.jpg

That sensor - i do believe is for the alarm system.

If the alarm is activated and the proper hood latch with harness is attached, at the sensor, the alarm will also sound if
someone tried to open the hood.

I had the alarm activated on my 2011 and installed the hood latch and the glass break sensor.

Thanks Tom! So basically I need to replace the latch? It does have a 2 pin connector. If so do you have the correct latch part number I need? Was working great but one day started thinking the hood is open on my Viper alarm remote display. I did splice wires together to see if that worked but didn’t. Thank you!IMG_5246.jpg

Until I have more time to troubleshoot, I tied both wires going to the hood switch to ground for now at the horn mount bolt. There’s a poor ground somewhere. I did try a whole new latch with the micro switch mounted in it but still didn’t work. No longer displays hood open in Viper remote and now remote auto starts works again! Obviously doesn’t know when the hood is open. Thankfully the hood release lever is in the truck.
