Clunk/thud when turning before and after replacing everything!

So my truck (2006 AC 4.8 4x4) has this distinct clunk/thud that you can almost feel in the floor board when turning. I was convinced it was the steering rack bushings because they were shot but I just replaced them with poly bushings during my entire front end refresh.

I just did:
TC Lowers
TC Upper
TC Ball joint conversion
TC Poly steering rack bushings
TC Diff Drop (done months ago)
ADS Coils
DuroBumps
Removed sway bar to rule out that or endlinks

None of this fixed it, what am I missing that could be causing this? Front diff mount? Body bushings? Trans mount?

 

Those are possibilities. Body mounts being the lowest-possible cause. Is it possible for you to get the truck up in the air so none of it is "loaded" to see if you can replicate the clunk while turning? This would rule certain components out quickly.

 

Tried that but it sounds like it only happens when under load.

 

Understood. Good call. I would look at mounts, related bolts and driveline components then. It's not your front-end components. Simple logic. Keep us posted, please.

 

Just out of curiosity, is your truck lifted? If so, how much? It's possible your shocks aren't the correct length and are topping-out.

 

As weird as this may sound, check your leaf springs to see if the wear pads at the tips of each end of the leafs are still there or worn down to nothing. It's pretty deceiving, and for me at least, it sounded and felt like it was front end or under my seat. Good luck! Report back when you track it down

 

My rear leaf hangers were rusted to shit (huge blisters of rust) and made a loud clunk when I went over bumps or changed direction hard. It would resonate down the chassis such that I thought it was a front end problem.

 

It is lifted slightly but ADS got me setup I don’t think it’s that.

They’re brand new archive garage springs

Hmm my truck is a California truck I haven’t found any rust like that but I’ll double check back there.

 

Stupid question, does it happen when moving only, not when stationary?

Another stupid question: Have you checked for rub marks? My tires smack the mudflaps up front at the pinch weld and make a thud while turning, any time I'm rolling in reverse. It won't happen if I'm turning in forward motion, or I'm turning stationary. It also happens when I'm turning and in compression at the same time. It's not like I'm running huuuge tires, 275/70r17 and this is happening.

 

Drive shaft carrier bearing min would clunck before I fixed it

 

Worn driveline component somewhere is where I'd be focusing based on OP's descriptions.

Mine still makes this same sound due a broken rear leaf. I'll replace it one of these days.

 

Well it was something obvious I should have noticed when I installed all the new suspension....The UCA was hitting the coil bucket under load and the reason it did it before and after the TC install was the JBA UCA's the previous owner installed had also been hitting. Turns out the casting on my coil bucket was off so it was contacting the upper arms. 5 minutes with a grinder fixed it lol.
