Nice, I have been wanting to upgrade my headlights. Seeing real world results makes it easier to spend $1k haha.

They are supposed to have an upgraded setup coming online for sale now. Terminology is important, I don't like LED projection
headlights like the new Ford Low beam with that stupid projector on the bottom light. Mostly because these asshats overload their
trucks all the time and don't have them adjusted so continuous pencil beam flashing in the eyes. Same with all the GM products
having mounted their lights as absolutely high up on the fender and horizontally parallel projectors bulbs, again any bump or load and
    light flash oncoming vehicles.
So my definition of projection is a rear reflector that actually sends that controlled reflection out in a flat top cutoff light beam.
The cutoffs on the Morimotos are clearly as good as any factory effort.
So if you want to spend the money it won't be wasted on these. IMO

Drove 60 miles north today. Late last night a guy had a 2013 DC Leer cap for sale. $1800
Including the Bedslide! Unfortunately confirmed my fears the DC caps strike the outside edge of
the cab of the regular cab. The angles are pretty good some suggested just slide it back an inch.
If I did that it wouldn’t seal within an inch on the tailgate so no point.
Lesson learned. In the spring I’ll save up and get one ordered up for next winter unless I
am lucky and find an actual RCSB cap.

Went to cut some boughs in the forest, came to cross ditch road. Stopped and switched to 4Hi.
Immediately got an engine light. Plugged in my AUTEL and the code has nothing to do with
    4Hi.

P0456$07E8 Evaporative emission system leak detected (very small leak)

Search says first - loose gas cap. I’d just gone to gas station and the pumps failed so I ended up
not buying fuel. So I cleared the code and will run a full scan. Then I’m going to run in an fuel it.
    Wait and see.

I would get the same code after fuel up on mine when I bought it. For how cheap they ate I bought a new cap from toyota and did a full system code clear and hasn't been back since. Over a year strong.

I've fueled up, driven home and out into the forest for a run. Stops and starts about 4 times. Code hasn't returned. Pretty
    sure it's the gas cap.
If you look at your cap, there is a 'check engine' pictorial diagram right on it. Seems gas caps are tied into a fair number of systems

Been hiking up behind the house. It’s been soggy west coast mostly. I park in the same spot at the bottom of the first off road trail. This pic was taken on a clear day. I’ll take the tundra up it when I have a winch and chainsaw. Little caged buggies made this one, it’s narrow and bloody steep. I’m not caging my tundra nor willing to damage my bodywork. But it will be a challenge either way. There is no such thing as tread lightly, this is all pirate 4x4 stuff. Usually ATV first, then caged buggies and eventually the full size come thru

Well, FB came thru big today!! Found a Leer 100XL top of the line canopy for sale $500 up in Qualicum Beach. Got yakking, found out the newer model double cab canopy still didn’t fit. The guy said it was his wife’s ex-husbands canopy he’d left there for a few years. Just wanted it GONE - so he gave it to me. FREE!! Haha! It’s a mess, but it’s on the truck for now. The big issue is the front of the canopy doesn’t sit on the front box edge. So unless I cut and mold the front corners of the cap. New fibreglass work and paint isn’t too much.
The rear door latch is seized completely so tomorrow I’ll go get a new one ordered and once that is on I’ll clean up the bug screen and then list it for sale or see if the local dealer will take it on a trade for a new one. Either way I’m way ahead. Lucky day!

Leer 100XL from a double cab. Looks good but it rubs and just isn’t a good fit. Damn.

Surprised didn’t hit bottom today. Got into a couple of rocky climbs. Definitely not a Land Cruiser. So much bigger!

Yesterday I stupidly backed into a post with passenger mirror. Today I thought I should pick up the pieces to this mirror. Turned out that by pushing on the end of the chrome exactly the way I did when hit the post just popped the chrome cover off it did not even damage the tabs that hold the chrome cover on. Now the little puddle light on the bottom has come loose there’s a little tab holding it so I just put three pieces of tape over it since I don’t use it anyways and aside from the broken lens. The mirror works. The signal light even works in the mirror so at this point in time, I’ll just order a new lens for it. I didn’t realize these heated mirrors they must have a fluid in them. That’s what they heat with? Because there’s all kinds of oily shit everywhere. But by a miracle the thing is still together and functional. Crazy tough!!!
BTW - Anyone tell me where to source a replacement lens with the Signal arrow embedded in it? Love the Arrow!

It was bound to happen, I only hope it's what I think it is. Rats....
Came home last Saturday, woke up Sunday to Christmas tree of dash lights. Won't shift above of 4th, 4Lo light and Anti-skid light
won't extinguish. Couple of codes for knock sensors, 2 of them right side.
WHY TOYOTA would you put the knock sensors and wires under the intake manifold???
Pulled the plugs, two on the left hand bank have oil all over them, and two on the right hand bank are corroded and dead.
So running on 6 cyl, I'll post pics tomorrow.
I took the air intake off, cleaned out the foam and so far have 4 plugs in on the left hand bank. I didn't have torque
specs so I came in to get that.
Found a good source, pictures and tips!

Replaced the plugs. Oil on #2 left side. Told to replace the spark plug tube seals. So I did that. But I noticed the tube on the plug with oil in it is slightly proud of the other 7. So I got bigger fish to fry I’ll come back to that. The tubes are screwed in. Sealant applied. Obviously it’s turned out and leaking. Means valve cover have to come off. But I got vermin issues. So after I get it all running I’ll come back to this.

Rat was living in there for one night! Anyhow got the intake out. Found the nest. Pulled the wiring harness out. Lucky it’s a cheap part in reality. Knock sensors themselves should be ok. If anyone has any idea on how to test them? Let me know. The only real bastard was the two clips on the main wire harness on the rear of intake. It’s all apart now. Waiting to see if I can get the harness asap.

Bought this truck 1 yr ago yesterday. Had the SOS Lowering Kit and SOS Airbag Kits ordered and finally got the time to finish install. I know it’s a 4WD. But the tailgate is 6-7” lower so I can actually get into the back without a ladder. I can load stuff. The wheel well openings are both exactly 38” from ground and a 4’ level has a centered bubble along the bottom of the canopy. Rides nice so far. Couldn’t be happier. Loaded with 11 psi at the moment
