It was a year ago this evening we got the second-worst call a parent can ever get - that your kid has been hit head on and is on their way to the hospital. She is doing much better today - her last neurology appointment was last week and she’s got about 90% mobility back in her spine. But it’s definitely tainted the “Christmas
Spirit” for us.

 

Yikes, glad to hear she is mostly recovered. People ask me why I am generally cheerful despite things sucking and I always give them the same response, "It's good to be alive, aches, pains and all".

My dad retired as an operator about 8 years ago.

 

We have automotive management that doesn't know anything about turning a wrench.
Most of them are DEI hires that fucked up in other departments of the hub.
For some reason, they can't be fired....

Then we have feeder (semi-trucks) management that has never driven a semi other than their 6-week training in Chicago..
They like to tell me how to do the job I've been doing for over 30 years..

Sorry to hear this. My mother passed in Jan the day before her 65th birthday. No matter how hard I try, her death day is still a somber day.
