07 CM 5.7. Not overly concerned YET but I seem to have a ticking noise when I engage my 4wd. The truck shifts in and out of 4wd with no problem.Everything feels fully engaged and there is no clunking or metallic sound at all. However, when engaged there is a ticking noise that almost sounds like when you would put a baseball card on your bike and it made noise when it hit the spokes. I've read that its possible that the sticker wrapped around the drive shaft has delaminated and is causing the problem. The truck has 251k on it so its hard to believe there are any stickers left on it. I should tell you that I live in Girard Pa and we have had over 70 inches of snow in the last 4 days and I thought there might be some snow related issue. But that's just a guess.Any help would be appreciated.

U-joint on front drive shaft is my guess.

Some kid with a hockey stick you ran over 3 days ago? Until you can clean the whole bottom
off and clear it out from snow it will be pretty hard to really tell what it is. Drive shaft u-joint
Would be a good place to start, gotta agree with that.

Ok I'll start there. Unfortunately we are supposed to get another 10-20" of the white stuff today so I guess I will be driving a 2wd truck until some of this stuff melts which is supposed to be next week when it gets to 50 degrees.

I’d also suspect a u joint. They can click or squeak on the way out. I’d still use 4x4, though, but that’s me. The click doesn’t usually spell imminent implosion, just a cry for attention.

Like everyone said, start at checking out your ujoints, however on the 4wd model both rear and front driveshafts are grease able, if you haven’t done it in a while grease them and see if th ticking gets better

Just recently after we got a whopping 71" of snow. I would try greasing them but with everything snow covered I can't even get the driveway cleared out enough to get underneath it. From the sound of things though it may be past a good grease job...........

Update; Holy snort the truck gods favored me with an early Christmas gift. Thanks to the information provided here my truck is now running as it should. I find it hard to believe but it was that darn sticker. Once that was removed, the noise disappeared and I have used the 4wd without problem. That is one tough S.O.B. sticker, to still be attached at 252,000+ miles. Thanks everyone.

Don't lose that sticker, as least you'll have the part number for when the drive shaft fails. LOL.
