I replaced one of the 12V outlets with an HDMI IN/USB.

The 1057 wirelessly screen mirrors my phone, and my phone will do anything my firestick will, so I don't really use it unless we plug in my wife's iPhone.

VERY happy with my 1057. If you do it, I highly suggest adding the front camera while you're at it.

How does the hdmi connect to the 1057? It doesn't show to have hdmi out?

No, it's HDMI IN, so the phone, firestick, Roku, whatever plugs into the receptacle underneath, which is wired to the HDMI IN on the back of the HU.

I don't think it has HDMI out, IIRC.

And one other question I have. I have light sensitivity in my eyes. At night bright displays are rough. Does the screen dim down well? Some units the diameter setting is still pretty bright.

    Dimmer instructions from the manual

There is also backlight and brightness.
    upload_2024-12-22_9-6-52.png

You can change the colors, which may or may not help.
    upload_2024-12-22_8-22-15.png

I took a pic of it on my older Kenwood..
I keep my brightness all they way dim at night.
    Yes, my truck is filthy..

    Hope that helps.

No, I got used to it, but I turn my dash lights way down as well.

Might be a pain in the ass to install just to see, but Crutchfield has a great return policy.
Just don't use it too much..

You could get the unit, hook up the power, ground, and illumination leads, and see if it works for you before doing the full blown install..

I've never dimmed mine much, but I could play with it tonight and see.

This is what I have considered doing. Like you I run my dash very low. My eyes don't like light.

So I assumed the dimmer would be user adjustable, but it's apparently just On/Off.
(Or "sync" it so it dims whenever your headlights are on)
If I had to guess I'd estimate it to be maybe a 20% reduction in brightness?

I have a custom wallpaper background on my screen, (a pretty epic sunset from our Thanksgiving camping trip) so probably a bit more subdued than the pre-loaded stock background choices.

Since the stock ones are likely designed to "pop" and impress, a 20% dimming would be more noticeable.

Given your sensitivity to light you could also use the "screen off" feature that lets you can toggle the screen lighting on/off with a tap.

You can turn the brightness down a good bit at night. Dark enough not to bother you but still enough to see the screen.

Okay, I thought I had seen something like that before!

No, I was just lookiing at "dimmer" last night and didn't dig as deep as I should've.

In my defense, I'm a week in on a nasty cold and my brain is encased in a generous coating of
