ZONE OFFROAD UCA's

Anyone tried these? Zone has a removable covered, greasable joint like SPC but they are buit heavier. Contain a replacible MOOG ball joint. <$500.

 

I’ve got these UCA’s on my truck and I love ‘em. They’re great. Solid AF!! IMO, better than the Camburg ones. And they’re cheaper!!

I just don’t know how often to grease them????

 

I use them, got my alignment back in spec and improved the overall ride as well. No problems at all after nearly a year running them. Finish still looks fantastic despite all the mud and sand they've been pummeled with as well.

 

Been happy with mine. Had to go to a competent alignment shop to get it dialed in. First shop I went to said not enough offset on these and he couldn't get it aligned. Went to Sears in Pasadena,CA. Couldn't get a 4.0 caster but thats because of how much lift I had.

 

I like the stickers you put on the Zone UCA’s. At first glance I didn’t even realize they were the zone ones.

BTW, how often should we be lubing these UCA’s??

 

I would think every 5k miles or every oil change. They would be easy or do.

 

Are they good for a 6" lift??? I'm on the SPC brand I'll be pulling trigger some time soon

 

Thanks! Had a couple of those from ebay aying around the garage so just decided to slap them on.

I do not know how often to grease though.

I would say no on that one. I have bilstein 6112 on top setting with 1" shim and I could barely get a 3.5 on the casters.

 

You don't have a couple more laying around you want to sell do you??? Just checking...you meant stickers. I meant ZONE UCA's....lol

I have camburgs uniballs but just wondering why you think they are better than camburgs balljoint ucas.. camburgs are made from 4130 chromoly and use greasable PU frame pivot bushings, whereas zone boxes their plate steel and uses rubber bushings. the only thing similar is that they both use moog bjs.

 

Thanks..other feature i like on SPC is that they're adjustable and ther also separate BJ kit that has grease zerk

I have been looking at the (Zone) and the (Icon) UCA and torn because the huge price differance so I am not sure what to get..I know there is more adjustability but is the price worth the extra option?

 

The Icon’s are bad ass, mostly because of the name. If you don’t want to drop $1,300 for some UCA’s go with the Zones. I’d be willing to bet the Zones will last just as long and are just as strong as the Icons. I’m probably pissing a few people off because they dropped some serious coin on UCA’s and they are getting all butt hurt over it. The real difference might be in the adjustability of the Icons vs. the adjustability of the Zones. According to what I’ve read the Icon’s are very adjustable but I can’t find any info on the adjustability of the Zones. I’m going to have to call Zone and ask them.

 

I really appreciate the information.. if you do come across any more information on the adjustability of the zone upper control arms please repost.

 

@CJ21 , after speaking w/ a Zone technician on the phone here are some things to consider:

1) How often to grease them: every other oil change
2) how much grease: until the boot swells a little bit, if grease comes out of the bottom of the boot wipe off and go about your way.
3) Zone are adjustable : Stock cam bolts for caster and camber

4) As long as your vehicle aligns properly, why do you need to adjust anything on your UCA’s?? Icons are a little more adjustable but as a street vehicle, that off roads when you have the opportunity, what the hell are you going to adjust?

5) Icons have UniBalls and they wear out faster than the Moog ball joints found on Zone UCA’s.

6) And finally Zone Offroad is sister a company with BDS suspension, built and engineered by the same people as BDS. BDS created ZONE Offroad to have the same quality as BDS but with a little more cost effective price point, and who doesn’t like saving money for other mods??

So, based on that I’d go with Zone again if I had to do it all over, period. I’ve had no problems w/ my UCA’s on alignments (the guy got it the first time), or with off roading.

When it comes down to it, it’s your money and you can do with what you want. Who cares what other people think/say about you or your truck?
