There should definitely NOT be ANY gassy smelling water/liquid in the intake ports. Houston, we have a problem.

Did you remove the intake, or just the upper intake? The upper intake will have puddles in it, and it will be oily and smell like gas. If you pulled the whole intake the only holes are gonna be the intake ports, and if those have water in them you got problems. I'm betting you just split the intake.

    Intake off.

I'm still waiting on OP to post up some pics. We may critique and judge, but it's all for the betterment of the group. In reality, we're all here to encourage and uplift. After all, this is an enthusiasts' forum. All of us genuinely love and enjoy these trucks and it's no one's will to have even one of these truck's lost and or abandoned.

Worth noting also, this is a very common area for rodents to nest and chew shit up. If you ever need to go in here for any reason, get some rodent tap (Honda makes it) and wrap all the wire & looms with it. Best way to proactively stop the chewing before it cuts thru something serious.

Pffft. I'm totally open to anyone abandoning their trucks, with a pre-signed title, in my yard. I'll take 'em. My kids need stuff to drive, they're almost old enough.

I'll take it. I'm that crazy guy willing to dive in, gut the interior, and work thru the problems. I'd make my kids do it. Just need a solid frame and decent looking body.

Also some frame pictures would be good to see. The level of rust present in these photos is concerning.

Dipstick is clean with clean oil, little high. Drivers side of truck. I don't think this was a flood vehicle, I think the idiot left the windows down on drivers side and it got wet inside. I've never seen a shifter rust like that. I've look this over pretty good and I don't see and evidence of it being flooded, wet? yes, it's been wet, for sure. New rug and seats will cure that. I'm just not getting why there's water in the intake, any thoughts????

I'll be doing that this weekend, just got off work (Work Part Time as a steering wheel holder) too tired to climb around under a JAP. It's weird, The only rust inside is the gear shifter, why the hell would that rust? Everything works and moves,Emergency brake isn't frozen or rusted, shifter moves and shifts easily, it's a strange thing to me. Another weird thing, after I got intake off, I loosened the radiator cap, Pink coolant came out of 1 hose and crystal clear water came out of another hose. Is that crazy or what.

Yeah, flood car. Or driven into water over the air intake. Frame pics would be good. make sure this truck is worth saving. I would also scope the cylinders. Water anywhere inside an engine can ruin the whole engine.

Oil looks good and clean (dirty, but clean/free of contaminants) so that's good.

The amount of rust on everything, the condition of the floorboards, the amount of mold/mildew suggests someone either left the windows open all the damn time through rainstorms and all kinds of other stuff, or the thing was at least partially submerged. You'll know when you start popping off connectors on things at the floor level. Note that these trucks did have an issue with water running down wires and getting into both the ECU and the fusebox, which live on opposite sides of the windshield. If you notice really weird circuit problems, or really weird running, I'd be checking those two for water damage.

You may be able to see evidence of - if the thing was underwater for any period of time - where the water line stops when you pop off one or more door panels. If you don't see a clear delineation in there, doesn't mean it didn't sit underwater, it just may not have been submerged long. If it was submerged up to the roof, it'll be obvious in the headliner. Someone may've just run it into a ditch, pond, or the ocean (which would explain all the damn rust), and had it pulled out same-day. If they didn't deal with the interior components, drying it out right, then rinsing the brine off, what you see is exactly what would happen.

You've got your work cut out for you. Looks like a fun project. Like myself and others have said, I'd be scoping the cylinders while swapping in new NGK Iridium plugs to look for debris. I'd be doing a compression test also, after verifying the timing is correct, once I could get it to turn over.

Also, water in the crank case will displace oil. Stick will read high. Water will sit on the bottom.

    This is a good point.

Drain the oil into a clear container. Let it settle for a minute, and it'll tell you the story of whether there's water in it. This is something you can do easily in 5 minutes (crack and drain) which requires little to no effort.

When you take the drain plug off, the water will come out first. It will be immediately obvious.

Haven't had to deal with it myself directly, only seen pictures of other people finding coolant in the engine, and they weren't quick enough to get the flow on film. I'd be afraid I'd miss it if it was any less than a quart or so.
