I would let it play out. You are looking because there’s not a whole lot to find because they are great trucks. A statement about one year warranty runs like fire on here and could end up true but do you think Toyota would do that? I’d hope they would reward those owners who have this replacement.

Any vehicle can break down for a number of reasons and we live in a connected world. If you’re out somewhere remote with no cell service then you probably have all that camping crap anyway right lol? You lose your truck for a few weeks and get to try out a rental. I have zero skin in Toyota just hoping to show different perspective.

usually I’m one to google the address out of curiosity but I did not this time lol.

edit: That is to say though I never did think Toyota would reuse these.

Yeah. I thought the video posted a while ago explained the functional engines were being shipped back and the blown ones were being recycled locally. But it's been a month. I could be wrong.

Looks like a few dealers are starting to get a handful of them.

And yet us i-Force Max owners are asking when are we being added? Once our engine goes bust? Are we screwed once we hit 60k miles?

THIS! .., and the silly ass battery isn't going to power it off the road. If the hybrid grenades in a hammer lane, good luck not causing an enormous accident..

Exactly. I wonder if its time to start contacting toyota corp directly to see about getting any word or movement on when hybrids get added. Saw on FB that Pro with 77k miles went up, that guy is more than likely screwed. He will get offered half what he paid, or has to have a short block replacement if he's lucky, and never offered a long block like those who paid less for the non hybrid.

I have some before and after pics of my engine install some of you might find interesting. My engine seized on the highway with 16,851 miles on 10/18.

That's not a good look for any vehicle. Hope you get it back better than new (well obviously it should be).

I hope you check your roof for scratches before you drive off with it. Can't really tell if they have anything protecting it from the hood.

Hey Jayhawk, two questions. Is that a full engine long block replacement you had done. And did they speak to what warranty you have with this new engine?

I worry about the replacement warranty. Toyotas warranty on "Repair" parts is only 12 months.

It is a long block/ full engine, and you don't get any change to your warranty. If they change the oil at 1,000 miles for break in (don't know if they plan to) or something like that I bet they use my Toyota Care service. I'm going to request Toyota provide a Vehicle Service Agreement based on how rough my situation has been but will need a lot of luck.

Yeah, that doesn't help with the current low sentiment. Toyota did well with the full on engine replacement, but may have dropped the ball on the warranty. Its still early, they may adjust course.

But wait, if one has more than a year remaining on the original power train warranty, does that mean that we are essentially getting zero extension? And, again, what about those of us who purchased a Toyota extended warranty? This talk of 12 months on the new engine is giving me the willies :(

I just called Toyota Customer Care and basically asked the same question and dude had no clue ... perhaps if more of you 3rd gen owners make the call or document your displeasure on the NHTSA website, Toyota will get off their ass and be a little more transparent what the warranty will be?

So in the scenario that you have a Tundra that is covered by the recall but you are out of warranty (guess that would mean mileage since all are still within 3 years at this point), then you would have no warranty on the new engine? That would be so under Turtle's understanding??

I think Toyota pissed themselves by stepping up and replacing all engines within recall window. This alone makes one wonder if imminent failure is forecasted in all of them except Hybrids with lame "motive power" excuse.

If I was in charge I would only replace when failure occurs and roll back Toyota Care oil changes to 5k inclusive of oil analysis on site with results within 15 minutes.

I would also include modification of the SOS button to include engine failure (press 3 times within 5 seconds) to nearest tow company to recover said vehicle.

Furthermore, instead of piping engine noise into the cabin, a selectable switch could be installed wired to a sensitive microphone vacuum sealed with high temp RTV to the bottom of the oil pan to monitor/alert of any unusual noises coming from the engine.

Go buy an extended warranty now while you are still under the 3yr 36k warranty, that’s what I’ll do. It won’t be from Jerry as he hasn’t called or emailed me back though.

IMO, I would wait until my engine started making noise or just before I was about to sell it. "Got a new engine in it with 12/12" (or whatever it is) sounds like a win for the buyer & seller.
I will check on the warranty & post what I find out.20241218_145119.jpg

I guess I’m in the minority but your getting the full warranty coverage of the truck from when you bought it , 5/60.

I don’t see why it should be longer , with the exception of the perception of the tarnished reputation. We bought our trucks with. 5/60 and that hasn’t changed

I get being upset and inconvenienced though , if Toyota really wanted to nail this down , they could throw in an extra layer

I understand that is true with the new engine hoist provided to the dealers. I’d say this was before the dealer received the new tools to perform the task.

I was only offered a penny for my thoughts, but offered my 2 cents. It’s a bonus package, lol.
