Hey all, new to the forum but lurked as a non member for a while.

Got a weird one with my 2005 Limited.

During the storm on Wednesday I learned the hard way my sunroof drains were clogged (this has since been corrected)

Starting yesterday, my driver door controls will not work while the door is closed. I cannot unlock the truck with the button on the driver door or passenger door, or the key fob - only manually.

The driver window works from the driver door, but none of the other windows do.

When the door is open, everything on the driver door works.

Anyone else ever have an issue like this? I'm going to pull the door open switch today and check the connection there, but I honestly cannot fathom where to start looking into this.

These symptoms would seem to point to a faulty wiring harness in the door that is position dependent. I would remove the door panel and carefully inspect the wiring for chafing, corrosion or breaks. Also test the switch and reseat the connectors. You might try gently manipulating the harness to see if you can reproduce these symptoms when moving the wires. Don’t forget the area in the bellows and A-pillar.

I thought of that, but the symptoms also occur when the door is wide open and I depress the door close switch manually.

I'm still going to pull the door apart and check the harness but I'm not convinced it's a problem in the door.

Ok, the thing to do first is to pop up the door control on that side, and unplug, contact cleaner on the contacts, reinstall. This has fixed that problem for many.

But rather than re-type stuff that's already in its own thread, you should see this thread, which describes extremely similar symptoms with the passenger door controls, assuming my suggestion does not work, though it has for many others.

But if it only works when the door is open, I'm afraid, you likely have a short in the door jamb wiring harness, as did @CC80guy

So I took the door apart, sprayed the connectors with cleaner, took the door close switch off and sprayed it with cleaner, and put everything together.

Truck now locks and unlocks with the fob and the controls work when the door is closed and truck is either off or key is turned to ACC, but when the key is on the locks don't work and the rear windows don't work. The passenger window now works when the truck is ON.

I'm baffled. I don't know where to look, everything I touched is dry and free of corrosion.

Have you noticed any weirdness in other circuits? Asking because there is a well known issue where water can get into the integration relay (fuse box) via a-pillar and windshield leaks. But it usually impacts multiple circuits.

if I recall, all door window/lock function is bussed thru the driver control. If I could find a parts truck with same cab type on FB marketplace and buy a replacement control (then resell if no dice), I’d be tempted. Only because spraying contacts on the controls and moving them appears to have made a difference, from what you’re saying, unless I’m misinterpreting something.

    Curious:
    • Are you the original owner?
    • Dummy check: Did you try putting a new battery in your key fob? (Sry if I missed that)
    • Is there any evidence under the driver side of the dash that anyone added an aftermarket security/start system? Any t-taps or wire splices, LEDs or black/blue boxes?
    • When you’ve had the door panels off, did you notice any splices, relays or anything teed off the controls?
    • Do you appear to have a standard fob? Can we see a picture?
    • Do you see ANY evidence of aftermarket wiring thru the door grommet (the rubber accordion tube the door harness passes thru), like for speakers, or anything else? I suspect that’s what happened to CC80guy, something someone passed thru the door nicked a wire, potentially, and led to his shorting but only when the door is in a specific position.
Because you have a DC, you may not use the RS3200 system for keyless, yours may be routed thru the BCM. I’ve never heard of a bad BCM before but I’m not exactly the king of 1st gen knowledge or anything.
