Anyone have a Horizon Losi Super Baja Rey 2.0? Been watching a lot of videos on these things, compared to a Traxxas UDR, they are YUGE

 

It is a bad ass machine. I saw one at the hobby shop last weekend.

 

I have had my Stampede forever and it is still in great shape. Take it 4 wheelin on huge dirt mounds and send it off the tops, lands perfect nearly every time without missing a beat. Still a blast!!!

They make the more popular axial stuff seem like garbage

They aren’t submarines so they may not run at the bottom of a pool but yes they absolutely can get wet with puddles and snow.

The battery is great. We get close to an hour run time. The charger is slow but it works. On this scale of RC there is no need to overthink the battery.

For the price, you really can’t go wrong with the FCX18 LC80. Out of the box the only issue we had was the driveshaft pins popping out. A single drop of superglue solved that and we eventually upgraded to steel shafts from Injora (less than $20).

 

That is crawler speed.

 

Ya that is low, high is about 3X that speed.

 

I managed to crack a pinion gear, metal replacement for $12 and not another issue

 

The v2 models, which is what ships now, says “metal gears”. I have one but haven’t opened it yet to check if the pinions have been updated.

What do these do? Do you put them on all 4?

 

Those add unsprung weight inside the wheels. Increasing unsprung weight is the best way to improve performance of an RC crawler.

With that said, don’t buy those. Look for a brass full wheel set that comes with the inserts from a company like Injora.

I run these on our trx4m’s. Get their lug nuts also. They are a good wheel and the beadlock works great with a set of their sticky tires. I can wrap a tire around like a top fueler and it never slips.

1.0 wheels and tires for the TRX4M are interchangeable with the FCX18.

any idea on run time with the NIMH battery it comes with ?

I read one review on Amazon that said 6 mins at 50% power, that can't be right can it?

Im considering this or the lands cruiser, just wondering if hes going to get bored with the slow speed of the crawler

would be kinda nice to avoid the whole lipo fire deal with an 8 year old wanting to use and charge it. not sure what a traxxas set-up costs for batteries and charger for this but Im guessing way too much

Whatever you decide get some metal shafts, they all say they have em but some don't.

 

I think thats the better 4wd one though not this Voltage 2wd drive model?

 

I think it's the same components minus a center shaft

 

ok, what battery set-up do I need for that if I want to go with the Lipo 2s deal without breaking the bank?

for 80 bucks this may be the winner depending on battery cost set-up I guess
