I have a 2000 extended quad cab. looking at a 2006 crew cab. I know the grill is different and will need lower fender extensions. My main concern is the hood being interchangeable.

Someone here may know. If not, in the meantime: Search car-part.com and depending on the results it will show you only Access Cabs (what you have) or, if other years fit, Regular Cabs and Double Cabs. And possibly will also show you Sequoias.

Pretty sure the front of the hood is different, the way the grille mounts in and all. Also half tempted to say the body lines on the 06 are also more "distinct" than the earlier models. I think the early models hood appears more flat where the later models the hood has a more raised front center section and a more pronounced and taller body line.

There's no such thing as a quad cab. 2000-2003 you had regular cab or access cab. Double cab (what I think you have, or maybe you have access cab?) is available 2004-2006.

The hood part number for 2000 access cab from Toyota is 53301-0C020 or 53301-0C021 (source here)
The hood part number for 2006 double cab from Toyota is 53301-0C021 (source here)

The fact there's a matching part number would suggest that, yes, they are interchangeable. At least some are, I'm assuming the part number ending "0" and "1" are different versions of the same thing.

access cab is what I have. Carid showed 2 different part numbers from 2000 to 2001 -2006. I know the grilles are different from 2000 to 2006. looks like more of a foomanchoo style that hangs lower to the bumper.

the front fenders are the same for all years

I provided links to an electronic parts catalog ("EPC") for a 2000 access cab and a 2006 double cab above so you can pull the part number yourself. EPCs typically don't lie, and I would trust them far more than I would CarID of all fucking places.

You can clearly see there is a matching number in Toyota's EPC between both years/cab types. To understand the difference, you'd need to search for pictures of the access cab part numbers, I guess is one way you could handle it.

Or you could be really smart and go directly to Toyota's parts site RIGHT HERE and search for "53301-0C020", and you'd see what I see: THEY'RE THE SAME PART.

This concludes my Ted Talk for the day.

If there are any issues (or even if not!) please come back here and let us know what you’re seeing. But from Toyota’s catalog perspective, the part numbers are identical using the year-specific VINs I pulled from the internet.
