Not to take away from the two-wheel goodness...but it's a decent truck.

So, no issues with the tailgate cables and/or bending the tailgate while loading? Is there a bike weight limit? On my Tacoma I had to remove the tailgate.

I get two dirt bikes in my 6.5 ft bed with the tailgate closed. For my Yamaha Tenere 700 its a bit long so the tailgate is down for that bike

No issues at all with all the weight on the tail gate with your Tenere sitting on it ? @Coasty ? I’m a little bit worried to load up a husqvarna norden 901 in my short box tundra (5.7 box)

I am also wondering about running a 42" riding mower up into the bed on ramps. Those tailgate cables look pretty thin. Anyone tried this yet?

Did you use ramps or a loading dock? If it can handle those motos it can handle my mowers.

I use ramps. You can sort of see them on the other side of the bikes. As always though, the BMW is a tall bike so I find a place where the slope helps me and always tie the ramps to the hitch. Common sense stuff.

Yeah, I just wanted some reports that the tailgate and its cables were strong enough for the load. I have a nice set of alu ramps. My old Tacoma had a "folding" tailgate. LOL, so I never loaded my motorcycle in it.

Bit the bullet and got bike loaded in at the dealership. Bike is about 450lbs and I had 8psi in airbags I couldn’t tell the bike was there at all on my 480km drive back home.

Tundra short beds can be tight for hauling a bike.

Only if you want to close the tailgate.
I’ve had everything from Harley’s to small scooters.
Bonus for the AVS that allows you to lower it a some. Every
    Little bit helps.

Not a Tundra, but I used to load my 875lb. Harley into my short bed F150. I know it's too long for my 5.5 Tundra, but I do have a trailer. Wife used to hate watching me do this. 20151016_120253.jpg

You guys that get your bikes up on the bed of these new trucks have my respect. I'm too old to mess around with that and I love my bike trailer that is often just used as a regular utility trailer. The low deck and built in ramp are game changers for me.

Sorry but this is why I need a double cab w/ 8' bed... seeing photos like that.

no way to hook up the trailer with the tailgate down.

Ford have a very slick ramp system, they secure to the side of the box when not in use, can be locked in place using your ignition key, and simply slide / lock onto the tailgate so no need to strap or secure the ramps to the truck. Wish I could find a similar system for the Tundra when I finally get it.

Here's some good pics of the system.

It's not bad loading with ramps, like you I'm too old to run them up like I used to do with dirt bikes. I just start the bike up and and walk it up slowly slipping the clutch. Backing down leave the bike in gear (motor off), that way if the front wheel starts to slide (happens often) you just let the clutch out to use the motor as your rear brake, that way you can load / unload slow and easy and make sure you're in control the whole time.

Easiest to load was our Class A toy hauler with it's nice big ramp, I could just ride up and into the chocks. I may get a set of Pit Bull trailer restraints to make loading / unloading even easier, no tie downs.

This is an older pic but I'm a big fan of the Pitbull system and use it for my BMW.
