Bell housing looks shorter on the back one also but maybe it’s just perspective. I’d be tempted to swap bellhousing and pan over. Internals likely the same? Check badges for model/year. Hopefully you got a stouter version from later year? Wonder if @empty_lord wiuld have any input here? Hate that I’m tagging him twice in one day though.

Yep the rods are notoriously weak. The 2 bolt main heads are also a weak point. So bare minimum if you want to boost more than 5psi would be rods and then maybe tap some more holes to get 4 bolt or 6 bolt. That is what I have heard, I have no personal experience. Supposedly most of the top end and the connecting rods (and probably more) is compatible with 1UZ parts.

 

They are both a340e. After a little searching last night, I believe my donor trans to not be from a FGT but from a T4R. I’m not certain until I look at the old, but I base this assumption from the top sticker marked 3D640 on the new one. If I’m correct, my old trans will have a 34310 sticker.
From what I’m reading, the sticker indicates what valve body it has. In this case, I should be able to swap the VB with the pan and call it good. I know that they both had two different inhibitor switches, and those swapped over with ease. Everything else matches accordingly.

Yeah and good luck getting in touch with a human. That’s why I typically use Summit Racing if I need it at a very specific time. At least if it’s not on time I can just cancel the order. And if I want to talk to a human about it, I can get them on the horn in about 30 seconds. Can’t beat RA’s pricing, most of the time, but good lord access to live customer service could use a drastic overhaul…

 

6 Quarts of ATF and a transmission solenoid.

I mean, start now. It took them 6-8 hours to get back to me when Dorman sent me the wrong door actuator for the CR-V I was working on recently. I made the mistake of waiting 5 weeks to install, when I realized I got the wrong part. They were super helpful, and I got it squared away with virtually no loss, but …

 

You're planning to drop the pan right? I agree with @shifty`. Don't wait. After you drop the pan, ATF is going to continue to drip for hours. You'll want to wait until it stops otherwise you'll get a face full of ATF like I did.

RA was helpful once you got them on the horn, or summit?

RA's lack of human interaction is the main (only?) downside of using them really. Doesn't happen often when you need em, but when it does - ooooooeeeeeeeeeeeee

 

Summit is a no-brainer to get near-instant support. Usually you get a human within 2-3 minutes using their online chat, or immediately if you call by phone.

With RA, there is no number to call. I couldn't find chat. Hell, it took me 5 minutes of searching online to get an email to reach their customer service (it's service@rockauto.com btw). I forwarded to my order confirmation to that address, and explained the problem.

I sent my email to them at 1:30pm on a Monday. I got a response from them Tuesday at 11am, so basically about 6 business hours later? And it was their usual phenomenal quality customer service, they've never failed to surprise me with their excellent customer care, it's absolutely on-par with Sumimt Racing's reponse, although Summit has a 90-day return window and RA claims 30-day (although they will fudge that for you in situations beyond your control). My only beef with RA is simply that you CANNOT seem to (or I've never found a way to) get a human, directly. I've only found two ways to deal with an order: If you get to it before it's processed and they've billed it to the warehouse, you can use the website to initiate support/cancellation. If you miss that window, you can send an email.

Knowing that, if I absolutely MUST have something promptly, I always order thru Summit. It helps that I can drive 30 minutes to the storefront in McDonough GA if I need it within hours, but in 20 years of shopping with both RA and Summit, Summit has never failed to get me parts exactly when they claimed they would. And support was a 5-minute ordeal to reach a human every time I needed it. With RA, I've had some pretty bizarre shipping experiences. Like when I ordered my 130A Denso alternator and, for some weird reason, it ended up shipping from, like, Oregon or somewhere else in the PAC NW which took a week+ to get here, and after traveling that far, it was beat to shit. They promptly warrantied it and let me keep the damaged replacement (which I refurbished the broken bits and sold at super discounted rate to a member here), then shipped another out ASAP, which shipped from an adjacent state and got here in 2-3 days.

I feel like Summit has better logistics, or maybe they happen to warehouse a lot here at the Atlanta location, so shipping is ultra-fast. My experience may be based on where I live, though, that's not lost on me.

In summary ...

• You typically can't beat RA's pricing, but Summit comes close, or matches, or sometimes beats.
• Both offer superb customer support experiences, but RA is more difficult to register a complaint/reach a human.
• RA has a better grip on when stuff will ship for drop-shipped items, Summit often over-inflates their shipping times for anything that's not held in their warehouse and would come from manuf'er warehouse, often adding 3-5 days lead time that I've found to be overkill, items typically ship same biz day/next bix day and always ship with expedited labels if they contorl it.
• RA's shipping for warehoused items, you never know from where in the country it's gonna come, it seems like they ship from "closest warehouse that has it in stock" which may be 1-2 days transit or 7-8 days transit time, and they always use the slowest/most economical shipping unless you pay extra.
• Summit offers free shipping over X$ on most items, and I have yet to get free shipping with RA.
• RA is easier to get coupons for (5% is readily available all the time), Summit usually has more cost-saving coupons but they're harder to dig up online.
• Summit has a better "official" return window (90-day) and an easier return process IMHO.
• Summit is easier to get a human for support, but both have superb support services.
• RA sends you collectible magnets with every order, Summit usually gives you sticker packs.
• Both have verified product/inventory/supply chains, so counterfeits are virtually unheard of, whereas other popular vendors like scAmazon and fleaBay and WallyMart are a crapshoot in that arena.
• Both get a @shifty` vote of confidence for being awesome vendors for DIY'ers, and I've been using both for at least 25 years now, long before I lived in Atlanta, and many years before Summit opened the McDonough GA storefront.

It's all ready to be put together already. I drained the fluid, took out the solenoid, and removed the gasket material from the pan/trans. Also cleaned out all the shavings. I bolted the pan back on with a few bolts to be sure nothing got in my transmission, and have just been waiting for the parts. That way once here I can just put on the new filter, hook up the solenoid, and put the pan back on with the gasket material and call it good(for 24 hrs while it cures before filling with ATF ofc).

 

Shifty is quite literally the GOAT of detailed writeups on the forum. Like legit a forum legend.

And yea, agree with you there with the few things I have ordered from Summit/RA. But, I'm still happy I only paid 50 for my solenoid on RA since the cheapest one I could find on Summit was like 290 buckaroos.
