I have two Tundras and a Chevy. Chevy is definitely a better more comfortable long highway trip car. It cruises comfortably at 85-90 all day long and has been super reliable over 325K miles. Some have been plagued by bad lifters on the displacement on demand engines. My Toyotas have been great as well. I have 250K on my 2000 and the only issue seems to be Toyota discontinuing some parts that are expected replacement items like some of the rubber parts.

I was in the same boat as you....I went ahead and took the leap on Saturday and picked up a '24 Limited Offroad Hybrid for a killer deal and 2.9% interest. I love it so far and glad I went with this instead of a Chevy (although I'll always love box Chevy's).

Wait and buy the '26, should be mechanically up to Toyota standards and have a refresh. I've been patiently waiting for that model since passing on my ordered '22.
Hopefully the demons are all finally exorcised.

my 23 is about to click 33k. I drive 60 to 70 miles a day and the truck idles sitting on job sites. no issues other than the damn seat panel that cracked, but warranty took care of that

    Nice.
When I worked in a shipyard, the Navy and shipyard were doing a joint ballast tank paint inspection, they found a painted fish. Of course the paint foreman got a lot of shit.
In a meeting he said, "I found the son of a bitch that did that. I fired him. I picked up the fish and he didn't paint the second side."

To your question, get the 24 or 25. I've got a 2013 andnever had any of the problems that were widely discussed here and other places.

I have 2024 CrewMax Tundra with 6.5' bed. Engine is fine, and plenty of power, with dual turbos (advertised as 389 hp). Some things you may want to consider are the truck payload for Tundra is 1900 lbs. I have the Toyota bed cover, and in icy conditions the cover overlaps the tailgate, and it freezes, so the tailgate will not open. You need to manually push on the tailgate several times to break the ice bond. Ergonomics of Chevy may be more user friendly (I had chevy cars). The best option is to test drive all the vehicles that interest you prior to purchase. Check the recall status on the 2024 Tundra's. Mine is OK, no recalls. I do enjoy the ride, and also had a 2003 4runner for 20 years. The chassis issue (very bad rust), on the 4runner became an issue, so I bought the Tundra. Good luck with your new truck search.

If I were in the market for a new truck I'd stick with Toyota over any other brand. That being said, if I were in the market for a 3rd gen I would strongly consider a 10 year 125k mile warranty.

    What’s wrong with stock?
I agree with your agreement. The warranties are expensive and what are they covering? The most expensive thing to replace is the motor, and Toyota has already said they are taking care of that. The rest of the issues are basically non issues. If you are going to have a problem, it’s going to happen while the truck is still under warranty and they will fix those problems. If you got the truck drive it, and enjoy it. Stop worrying so much about the what ifs.

Other than the recalls, I have had small issues. 1. moisture in a headlight 2. Moisture in a fog light 3. Cracked seat panel and 4. a broken sun-visor. Toyota has already replaced the first three and I noticed the sun visor this week. All happened before warranty expires. I have had the truck since new in September 2022 and it continues to put a smile on my face every time I drive it. Toyota has a reputation of reliability and this truck is no different .

Taking the bait but here it goes. There is no other manufacture I would want in the event of a problem with my truck. All brands are having problems, all of them make no mistake about that. But in the end the folks in this recall including myself will get a new motor, shit a new motor and my truck will have 70K trouble free miles.Im in. But the number of documented cases is less than 1%. I drove my 23 tundra across country last summer and it was very comfortable and not a single issue. I have hip and back issues and was fine the entire drive including 18 hours days in the saddle. Get one from one of the Southern Toyota dealers and most of them have a lifetime warranty on the drive train out of the box at no additional cost. I get extended warranties for the sole purpose of covering electronic issues. But not super long term.

I pulled the trigger and bought a 2024 Tundra Limited at the end of October. The only issue I have had so far is what mods I want to make. Knock on wood, everything seems rock solid.
