I've been digging into this and also learned info is hard to find. The master sticky and other posts mention 2883's providing a "sport rake", but it isn't clear whether they're an OEM equivalent, OEM TRD equivalent, or a mild lift spring. Searching hasn't turned up any clear posts either, but I can be impatient. Mostly I find people asking the same question, getting no clear answer.

I found this on 1st Gen Offroad. Do people agree with it? I'm hoping to level my truck, but am starting to realize that because I haul weight, I'll need to go with HD leaf packs in the back. Which means whatever I go with in the front, I'm not leveling the front to a stock rear suspension, I'll be leveling it to a ~1" lifted rear.

For bottom perch 5100s, seems everyone would recommend 2884's for leveling to a stock rear. Is the 1.5" lift of 2883s not enough to level the front? Or do people not agree with the data below? I'm good with a small amount of rake, but less than stock.

BOSS head Unit, Track Rack, Tint. MT Baja Legend EXP 16x9, Pro-Comp 69, Icon Titanium Rebound 17x8. Cant decide on Lift. ARB Rear. Bash Fab Sliders.
Results do seem to be all over the place. I would go 884. Just remember. Mo lift - mo problems. If handling and stability is important , you want a lil rake.

I agree with what’s in the sticky thread. I don’t trust online vendors, what’s in the sticky thread is based on what actual 1st gen drivers here on the forum have gotten. Those numbers were recently updated less than a week ago to add some clarity, I hope.

Alright thanks. Definitely leaning toward 884 then. I actually have no interest in a lift. I'm running into the same thing I ran into with my Tacoma. I haul heavy weight, so I need to beef up the rear suspension. Without going to airbags, there's no way I know of to beef up the rear suspension without resulting in a lift. Since I've already got more rake than I'd like, it'll look more ridiculous once I put HD leaf springs on. I'm hoping for the least amount of lift possible, while coming very close to leveling the truck.

Thanks `shifty. I'll just always assume I can't trust vendor websites.

If you’re not interested in lifting, you need to go with 883. It’ll still probably give you ~3/4” and possibly 1” lift with your V8/4WD AC. With each part number step up from there you should get another 1/2” - 3/4” added lift.

if I recall, stock height has a 2” difference (plus or minus 1/4”) front to back. This is why running 884 in an AC 4WD V8 gets you nearly level. That should put you roughly at 1.5” plus or minus 1/4”, i.e. about half inch rake front to back (what I’d call nearly level).

throw airbags out back and call it a day? Or if you get ATS HD springs which will give you at least 1” - 1.5” out back, run the 2884 so you land with maybe an inch or so of rake. ATS springs (mine at least) seem to settle over time and I’ve seen differences in what some have gotten versus others, but I don’t understand the rhyme or reason.

Great, thank you. I do see upgrading my leaf springs, after a few months with the slide in camper in the truck. Maybe I could get away with a fresh set of stock height leaf springs, but at somewhere between 5-700#, I think the camper calls for more than a stock suspension. I'll probably get HD springs, which means I'll probably end up with 884s. If I have to compromise, I'd rather have a fairly even lift than a super-high rear end.

Of course when I add up the cost of new leaf springs and hardware, new front coils and shocks...suddenly airbags don't seem so expensive anymore...I have all winter to save money and think it over.

Those are not stock bolts, the stock bolts are not that pointy. So either the top spring perch (plate) has been replaced, or the bolts have been replaced. But seeing how high your truck sits i suspect someone has been in there before.
