I sleep great. On purpose. It’s a massive part of being healthy. My general rule is no food 3hrs before bed, no water 2hrs before bed, and no screens 1hr before bed.

My hunting buddies who cold plunge are also all in as good or better shape than I am. They say it helps with circulation, mental clarity, and metabolism. It is also allegedly good for reducing the visceral fat around your internal organs, which is supposed to be a pretty good proxy for longevity.

Every single one of them hates it. But they do it anyway. Solidly strong, healthy, energetic dudes the lot of em. :notsure:

i hate being cold so I do not participate, but I would think the adrenalin released from a cold plunge would certainly help with ones mental health.

I'm doing just that starting tomorrow, through Sunday morning. Sharing too much whiskey and too many cigars with a bunch of codgers makes for a nice weekend.

I sleep well, swim laps, sit in the sauna, soak in a hot tub, cold plunge now and then, lift heavy things repeatedly, row, hike, mountain bike, do stair climbs, shoot a compound bow, drink whiskey, and love smoked meat.

    I'm still fat.

Maybe I need to sit with a bunch of old codgers and bitch about life for awhile. That should get me in shape or at least be good for some laughs.

Perfect shape for a man is very strong, capable of intense cardio endurance, high VO2max but not shredded with a six pack.

You want to be able to harvest your own meat, kick some ass when needed, defend your family, carry them all to safety, etc…

But when you’re completely shredded, people won’t take you seriously or will assume your entire personality is the gym, and if you aren’t married to a like-minded fitness influencer lady, she’s going to hate feeling like you’re hotter than her or that she has to keep up with you.

A tiny bit of pudge makes you more relatable and more desirable to your wife. YMMV

Noted on the chicken skin... like WTF, just give me more pork rinds to chose from...

Also, cold plunges are stupid unless for charity, specifically where you can pay for your boss to have to do it....

I do not miss Texas summers.

    That is all...

oh, and it is fn cold here in Florida!

I forgot to post a picture I took yesterday when it was live, is it even worth still posting? I feel like that's kind of misleading lol.

But if you are posting it now, the act of posting into the “live” thread is itself live, is it not?

My team is moving desks at work. Company policy is they will move work items but not personal stuff.

Best of luck with your daughter and dosage.
I can sympathize wrt to ear problems. My left ear is almost worthless…. My ENT doctor did a MRI years ago and it showed bad blood flow due to my sinuous artery. That and allergies where I did 11 years of shots. The allergy thing almost went away but no more ear infections.

Thanks, I appreciate it. :hattip:Always good to know we're all winning sometimes, and also falling apart together. I've been reading about stoicism and I'm trying to engrain that into my mindset.

We had to move all our own stuff except for the desks themselves for those who have ergonomic setups. But those aren't getting moved until next month.

I like hearing this because I know that so many people out there think this way, and it motivates me. I'm never going to look like someone who can bench press another person, or pile drive someone. But I can look like someone who can't be easily pile drived. A man is either strong or weak in this world. There is no middle ground.

Finally home and in bed by 2A (after I ate two meals, of course, lol).
She began complaining of pain to us, during her cheer session and refused to leave until she was done (lol). The pain she said was around her lower back/neck, hot throat, fever, and what she described as "sounds like the candy, pop rocks" when she breaths. Our daughter has a comprised immune system and juv arthritis.
She, like me, refuses to skip any other prior commitments and wont go see a doc unless she needs to. After some convincing, i came in hot to urgent care. Now, that she's 18, she signed her first "legal document" at UC lol
They took her temp, again and read at 100.6* (at home, it was 100.4*) so not alarming, but def a fever growing.
Once we finally got into a room the doctor did their initial tests "does it hurt if I do this? Does it hurt ur back if I do that?" They hooked her up to an IV for fluids, did lab work (blood) and X-rays. Labs showed fine with the exception of CBC (Complete blood count). X-rays showed inflammation in the lungs which shows it may be a form of pneumonia. She came back negative for covid (aka flu). The doc said her body is def fighting a small form of the pneumonia or virus. They prescribed her amoxicillin to take 3x a day for five (5) days which should kill whatever it is.

For those who are not familiar with a comprised immune system, take whatever side effects you get when you're sick and amplify it x10 for a few days. It hits her much harder than a "normal" person.

Ah man, sorry to hear this. :( That’s good that they are getting on top of it with the amox. I hate the ER. For one thing it’s always freezing in there.

All of this fitness talk. Everyone has a different perception of what “healthy” looks like. Anyone that has ribs showing with abs is SMALL and no more than maybe 150lbs lol
I’m about 200, with visible abs at 5’7” and growing (weight, not height!)

It sounds much like lupus. My wife's symptoms are very similar.

    Best wishes for quick recovery!
