Just an FYI to those with an SX package- or anyone with the black factory wheels. Took my Tundra in yesterday to replace the factory tires and the dealer noticed my rims were already pitting so they filed a warranty claim to get me new wheels. Not sure if it’s a widespread thing or not, so you may want to take a peek at yours.

I don't. I went out to look (since you asked) and to be honest, I don't see what they are looking at. Mind you it's 20 something degrees and I'm in shorts and a short sleeved shirt (ah, the joys of working from home), so I only took a quick look- but I'm not seeing anything under the salt and road grime.

The ones that were on it- Factory Geolander X-CV -were not something I was comfortable driving in the winter in NH. I found them to have poor traction in the rain and I had trouble even moving on wet grass, I didn't dare take them in snow. I replaced them with Michelin Defenders, which I've had a few other vehicles. I find them to be amazing all season tires that work well in any condition. I once tried to pass someone in the rain and fishtailed- I know how to drive in the rain- I didn't accelarate hard- I didn't need to- they were going 40 in a 55. I just pulled out and went and I fishtailed. I will say, the Toyota traction system was amazing and brought me right back in line. I also went to a BBQ a few weeks back and it had rained- I had trouble going in wet grass- I was sliding a fair amount.

That sucks. Mine came with Bridgestone Duelers and they are great tires. I would definitely be talking with Toyota about helping with the tire replacement cost.

Meh. I bought it knowing they weren't great and that they'd have to be replaced before winter.

Pitting may be on the inside of the rims, since they were replacing the tires.
