Stainless steel braided brake lines

I've had braided stainless steel brake lines on tricks in the past. Would like them on my Tundra. Does anyone here have any on their truck? What lines do you have?

I ordered a set from Power Stop in July but am still waiting on backorder. I've seen some others by Goodridge, but the picture only shows 2 lines (front), but the description says 4 lines included. My truck only has 3 soft lines, not 4.

Anyone know of a set of braided brake lines in stock that would work with a 2006 Double Cab 4x4 Tundra?

I ditched the hard lines for braided as I felt more comfortable with the slack being lifted 5"+. I had kinked one of the short hard lines doing front end work and the brackets didn't work on the new spindle for the hard lines anyways. I got them from a guy on the tundra Facebook groups

I got the Goodridge braided stainless lines because they included a stainless line for the rear as well. Got nothing bad to say about them.

 

Given that my truck has 1 soft line in the rear, it's a non VSC truck, correct?

Edit: I've confirmed my truck is non-VSC.

 

I’ve got braided SS on my 2000 for many years now. Can’t say they added anything other than piece of mind, but the brakes on it are great, so guess they are working.

 

I had called goodridge quite some time ago but wasn't sure what I needed with the lift etc. They are super helpful on the phone, iirc there's 1 or 2 guys that deal with this type of thing at their company seems to know his shit. I haven't done that rear yet the fronts were a problem at the time so I concentrated there but wish I'd have done all now due to having to bleed brakes again I always need to find a helper.

 

Thanks. I've found the Goodridge lines I need. Turns out the company I ordered the Powerstops from have them in stock. I've asked if I can change my order from the PowerStops to the Goodridge but haven't heard back.

 

Let us know the part number of the goodridge if/when you get them for reference to this thread.

Well now, another VSC thing I hadn’t thought about yet. How are my VSC rear lines different than normal, and what do I need to order to make sure that when I lift 1.5” all my lines are safe?

 

VSC trucks have 2 soft lines in the back, non VSC just have 1.

 

To boot, and only for reference, I highly, highly doubt you need to extend your lines for 1.5" lift. I have roughly 2.5" lift and my lines are fine at full droop and full compression.

I’ve been looking at how most people install their rear leaf spring and it seems disconnecting the brake lines makes it easier for installation and less risk of damage. Bleeding the brakes with VSC is super easy, it’s my own pump. How did you end up with 2.5” in the rear shifty?

 

2.5” front. I settled out around 1.4” in back using the ATS HD springs I think? I measured recently, initial lift was like 2” and it settled to 1.75 after a month or so. Apparently settled more in the last year.

 

I have my topper over my bed but no spare tire adding weight in the back, so it might take a while to settle. was part of your initial gain just from sagging springs or is that 2” over stock height? Just watching it squat when I loaded it with firewood helped me decide the 90-221HDs were the way to go.

 

My truck has 80k miles. Springs were fine. @w66 has my old springs now. They were fairly mint. That 2" gain was with no topper, and unsettled. It settled to 175" I believe after the initial ride (memory fuzzy). Then I added the topper, and had about 1,000lb of UPS battery packs in the back for a couple months. And after I pulled the batteries out, drove it for a while with a couple hundo pounds of tires and stuff for a few more months, that's when I measured again around 1.4-1.5"
