I clicked and didn't see anything about free shipping. The shipping charged on a lot of these kill any "savings" you get avoiding your local dealer. The free shipping is really just as important as the discount.

That just means how much of a earning they make before all those discount.
Aside from some unique stuff, most products from overseas, not necessary China only, cost are around maybe 30% of MSRP if not less.
At one of my previous jobs, our cost from factories would be x, we mark up by 45%, and retail mark up another 20-50% depending on who it is, see where the money is?

Normally they package the items pretty well. But like all things, if the box looks questionable start taking photos before you open it.

That and also, @Azblue if you order enough, usually they come in pretty well packed. I am also looking at maybe ordering wife's Venza oil filter, just do a whole box of it (can't remember if 10 or 12 per box)
But def inspect it prior to opening it. I also have Nest cam for my front door and have caught a few drivers "toss" packages and reported those with footage.
