Disconnected my battery to change it.

Went to test drive it after, my head unit sony xa-ax8500 powers on fine, but no sound comes out now.

Still running the factory amp with the axxess module.

Everything worked before I disconnected my battery.

I factory reset my head unit and still nothing.

Any ideas? Is the factory amp just dead now all of a sudden?

There's not a mute setting on your radio that got bumped on by chance is there? What kind of battery did you have previously and what kind did you replace with? Possible if you switched from a regular battery to an AGM there's a voltage difference? Did you check fuses? Looks like on your interior fuse box #32 15 amp is for audio system among other things, I'd start there.

If that fuse looks good, I'd grab a multi-meter and test for power at the amp to make sure it's powering on, double check wire harnesses there are all good and plugged in.

Checked every fuse for continuity and all were good. I replaced a a conventional battery with another interstate conventional.

I tested voltage at the amp based on the wiring diagrams and it's getting power. Checked resistance on all the speakers in case they all died, and were good.

Did some more reading, turns out it was the axxess module.

I guess when you disconnect the battery and reconnect, it resets the gain adjustment that feeds the factory amp to zero. Had to turn the knob back to zero. Turn acc power on with radio on, and just follow the process of setting the gain again with the knob on the axxess module.

Glad I figured that out and hope this helps anyone with an axxess module using the factory amp
