In PA, we have yearly inspection and emissions testing. They might test drive if needed. I’m not schooled on smog testing, if it’s different than what they do here.

That plus a zip tie on the bypass valve should do it. Or just get a barbed plug to stick in the vacuum tube for the bypass valve.

    *stock s/c tune

I'm not saying to flash the non s/c tune, but back to the canned tune that came with the supercharger

If the SC is 50 state legal with the canned tune for your vehicle, then there is no problem with smog. It's been tested and passed. Now as for going back and forth, I assume you have to smog test every year, then, I would be shitting bricks. I personally hate to upload a tune. Its the worse 4 mins of my life watching it do its thing and hope nothing happens.

My certification went out the window with the first tune. Lucky for me we don't have smog test or any kind of aftermarket parts laws down here.

Ha. I've read all the stories some of you guys have gone through with bricking ecu's. This is a very good point.

I know me....i'll want to tinker a bit. Not sure i'll end up with a smaller pulley, but i could see it happening.

Just keep it consistent with each time you flash.
Charger on the battery for safety so you have no voltage drops. lights off. ac off. etc off.
Good wifi signal. If spotty, use cell as hotspot. Whichever is better. A drop in signal from HP servers is all it takes to have a costly uh-oh.
Don't move the programming pc. one. little. bit. while it's plugged in.
you get the gist. remove all unknowns/variables from the equation.
I'm on flash 7 and I'm sure there will be more down the line.

If you're already talking/mentioning not having a smaller pulley, that's your first sign that you will eventually have a smaller pulley lol

Having owned many procharged and positive displacement blower cars the positive displacement blowers are hands down better imho.

    Transmission update #2:
Transmission is coming out again. C1 clutch might be faulty from Toyota. Everything shifts fine but the line pressure is still low. Going to replace it again with another C1. They also still have not received the crossover bolts (all 4) from Toyota, that is slowing down things. It's been pushed to Friday as of right now, but I would suspect I'm looking at a Tuesday 12/2 pickup day.

eh, it is what it is. I'm not really in a rush - other than just wanting my truck back. Our x5 is better suited for Holiday errands and family visiting anyway. Just rather be able to get back to rippin. So be it.

One of the things I like about level10 in my talks with them was they dyno run the transmissions before sending them out. Lucky you're having them do the install etc. Fingers crossed no issues with mine when we get to that point.

    Agree, definitely a huge plus.
I figure for the price I might as well. Save myself the garage time and shipping costs were going to be 100 each way anyway. Might as well spend another 500 to have them do it all. Being able to test drive the truck is huge too imo.

About to pull the trigger on a SC setup, can anyone give advice on whether I should go through with the Maggy or switch teams and go with the Whipple?

Being long term reliable is my #1 concern, let me know your guys thoughts.

can't go wrong with either. the best thing you can do for reliability is get a wideband and a good tune

Can’t go wrong with any of the setups. Page 1 has some good overall info. I had a Maggy 1.9 and now Whipple 2.9. But again for their included power levels can’t go wrong with any of them

I've read the front a few times, going back and forth comparing.. Since the Whipple comes with 650s and 340lph fuel pump is there additional tuning capabilities if running smaller pulley/TB/other mods or are they maxed out and need to upgrade further into the fuel system?

Yes. Sort of. I’m at altitude close to a mile high and have pulleyed down a few sizes along with an RCF throttle body; still on the included injectors and fuel pump with the Whipple kit and logs still show I have more room for additional fueling if needed. I can’t say what sea level does to that, but somebody can do the math on it; my brain is not firing on all cylinders tonight.. But IIRC, there’s room for a few upgrades with the included pump and injectors.

You can run one step down in pulley with the Whipple about 7-8psi and still be good with fuel. That’s what we run on the old man’s rig. As mentioned though you’ll want boost, afr gauge and custom tune
