2nd key FOB wait time

Picking up my Limited (built date 8/24) this weekend (10/26). Salesperson confirmed it will come with 2 keys.

 

Purchased in early March 2024. Just got my notice yesterday. Called the dealer and they said they would still need to order it and it could take up to a week. Not sure if that's common.

 

05/24. Getting it next week for 10k service and damn rear end rattle.

Bought my 1794 LE on July 1st, and picked up my 2nd key fob on October 29th.

 

My was built in January 2024. Still waiting for my key. 10 months and they say nothing.

 

Just got my 2024 Platinum two weeks ago. Dealer said second key fob can take a couple of months.

On another note anyone know which forum is the BKM to fix the volume dial falling off? Taking back to have the dealer repair it but curious as to what is the BKM.

 

Forgive the question but what is BKM?

 

Best Known Method… kids today speak in acronyms. which to answer his question, glue or AJT Designs after market, 3D printing files are also around.

But about the fob… now Toyota has a back order situation. The dealer cannot even give an approximate estimate when they’ll get fobs in.
But the service campaign is available.?. SMH.

Got my Toyota notification on the app last week a 2nd key was available for my vin. Made the appointment for today and double checked with service yesterday that they had everything needed and the estimated 45min wait time was correct.... well I got there today and was told they just ordered the key fob and I can come back next week. Luckily there was a total wine on the way home and found a bottle of eagle rare. Small win

Call and have them order it, they said they should have mine in 3-4 days.

 

11/1 - Picked up my 2nd key fob and had it programmed to my car yesterday.
10/25 - received notice via the app the my car was eligible for key fob
10/24 - at dealer for routine maintenance. Inquired about the second key fob. One person said i was eligible, another person at dealer said I wasn't. Frustrating, but told I had to continue to wait.
June - October - inquired with dealer and toyota brand engagement several times. Receive various conflicting updates and information.
3/8 - purchase date
2/24 - build month

8 month wait for a 2nd key. MY app still shows the 2nd key service campaign, even though I've already received and had the 2nd key programed. Anyone know how to clear that update?

 

It can take a several days to update.

 

Got my key fob finally, bought the truck April 27. Make sure you call to confirm that they have the key fob in stock.

 

Purchased on April 18th, got the 2nd fob yesterday. I must be one of the last ones to get a fob

 

So I got my 2nd key fob yesterday from Toyota along with first oil change.

How do you remove the notification in the APP for service campaign if its already been resolved?

 

It happens on its own after a couple weeks.

Picked up my 2nd FOB at the dealer the other day, build date 3/24. Does anyone know what the part # is for the emergency mechanical key insert? I do not have a 2nd one, and I was going to just proceed along without one, but didn't realize that's where the keyring loop is to connect it to my keychain. I typed my VIN into toyota parts finder and it lists no less than 5 different part #'s for the mechanical key insert.

 

Mine was inside glove box with owners manual inside black leather pouch when i purchased vehicle. Got 2nd key FOB the other day and snapped it right into the FOB

 

Niice .. My owners manual/books were just shrink wrapped. Need to get a case although they say physical copies will go extinct and all be digital only in the near future.

 

I checked, not there, thanks for tip though. I had a packet with a bunch of things like protection package cleaner, extra key for console safe, it wasn't there either. I'm going to have order one if I can ever figure out the part #.

 

Have you asked the dealer you bought from?

 

Yeah, they said "you received two when you got the truck". I figure for 10 bucks I'll just buy my own and not have to argue with anyone.

 

Bought my Tundra from Lake Norman Toyota in mid-March this year. They didn't tell me until the paperwork was being signed that I would only get one FOB. I tried for months to get an ETA and they would only tell me "not yet" with no ETA. But each time they did tell me that they could sell me one (seriously?). I finally called and raised a bit of a stink and they told me to call (888) 270-9371. When I called, they said my key was ready and that a letter that should have been sent was regrettably never sent. So I got it set up and picked it up today. Who know how long it's been ready? Or maybe it just requires getting irate. I like my truck but what a bad experience with the purchase and the ridiculous key FOB fiasco.

 

Does anyone know how to clear the notification about the key from the dash?

 

The "new key has been programmed see dealer" or whatever message? I was trying to figure out how to do that also, and eventually it just went away after a week or so.
