As others have said it comes down to one of 2 things happened, A. The gun was not handled correctly (including modifications) or B. their was/is a defect with the gun.
I am not an expert or claim to be but I have been around guns my whole life.
I train both ways, chamber loaded vs unloaded (Israeli Carry Method)
Another think to consider is Guns are easily modified to make them personal to the individual. Risks should be associated when doing modifications as you are altering factory tolerances. Do we know if the gun was ever modified in any way? Did it have the factory trigger?
My Self Defense weapons typically are not modified or if they are, typically only cosmetic and not for function. I don't want a modification to be used against me in the case I did have to use the weapon in a self defense situation.

It is. At this point, I don’t even think Sig can argue otherwise. Sig makes some fantastic firearms and have had a stellar reputation, but they screwed up big time with the P320. It’s faulty and dangerous. The P320 is eventually going to bankrupt them.

Sig came out with a fix and you can send it in to have it ‘upgraded” (read: defect fixed) for free. I suspect that guy has the original design and never knew about all this, showing how ineffective the recall program has been.

I would agree. Colorado is going down the same path. I'm just waiting for my wife to retire and bouncing. TN/NC areas have never looked so good.

I'll never understand the types that keep one in the chamber. Period.

In the LEO academy that I graduated from, we were trained not to keep one in the chamber.

It was true 27 years ago and to the point...it has changed a lot. Totally agree.

Sig makes innovative and great firearm platforms. They also have developed a reputation among the gun community as a company that uses its customers as beta testers. I'm not surprised that they are getting sued for millions of dollars and losing the cases.

I didn't say that. On duty training would pickup where the academy left off. I graduated, but I wasn't hired.
Now all's I carry on the job is cuffs and taser. Just one of life's curve balls. When I get promoted I'll have a proper side arm too.

My 320's must suck. They only fire when the trigger is pulled.

Ahhhh, okay. That makes sense. Probably don't want to start the initial stages of firearms training with a bunch of noobs running around with live weapons.

Yeah, gotta qualify first, then graduate, then pass the TCOLE exam, which grants your peace officer licence for two years. If you aren't hired in that time it expires.

If it expires, do you have to go through the academy again?

If you can't pass the TCOLE. I passed with a 91/100 on the first try and have a BS in CJ, but god had other plans I suppose. I certainly could have retaken the test and got another two years to get hired. But I didn't

Yeah I've got a buddy and a cousin who are LE but they're both dumbasses so I didn't wanna use them as a baseline for rigor. So if you're a licensed officer for 2 years and don't get hired, you just have to do the written exam again?

Yeah if you pass. I know out of the academy you get three chances. I'm not sure how it works beyond that.

That is a challenge we face - littles running amuck, so we aren’t able to stash what and where as much. However, we make sure the kiddos know what bang sticks are, what damage they can do (melons and water bottles make great visual aids when we take the kids shooting with us), and tell them that they are welcome to come ask us anything about firearms, even just pull them out and look at them. But they have to ask. We aren’t causal about it, but it helps remove much of the allure of a mystery of something secret and hidden.

Agreed. I have several pistols in various places in the house. Actually the equalizer by the bed is not a holstered pistol, but a 12 gauge. The holstered M&P Shield .45 (my EDC) is two feet from me now as I sit in my easy chair typing this on my laptop. The holstered 45 is on the bedside table in the motel when traveling.
