Where Im at the magic number seems to be 45mph gusts equals 1 day of power outage, higher equals more days out (once 5 days from wind). But the wind always blows from south to north during storms. But this time the predictions are almost due west which may lead to some interesting results as the surviving trees aren’t used to that. I got beer, my favorite MS362r and generators ready to go!

Looks like it's gonna land a bit north of me, but I'm sure we'll still have some rain and wind from it...

We had some strong s/winds from that storm last week (gusts at 65-70) a few hundred feet inland.

Well $hit.... this thing was supposed to hit land a bit north of me, but we all know mother nature doesn't cooperate

So much for that thing hitting land north of me

I just checked for updates, and it looks like this will be tomorrow around 1500-1600....

My app is saying sustained winds in the 20’s and gusts into the 50’s. So not as epic as many of you.

More interesting is my app says the winds could last for 20+hrs.

I'm hoping we get the wind shadow from Mt rainier. Looks like it's calming the winds to Gig Harbor.

Was doing light flickering here for a few hours then finally went out for good. Surprised my propane furnace (blower running) and most of the house lights draws about 1050watts total (550 with furnace off). LEDs are impressive. The bummer here is if you want to flush the toilet/use water have to go over to the well house and turn that one on.

Ironically this morning a tree took out the main road near me (and the utilities) so getting to the nearest town was +20mins haha, took the county 8 hours with no wind!

I normally lose power early, but other than a twenty minute loss of the internet, everything is fine. I can see the two grids on either side of me and they are both still up, but we are surrounded by outagesIMG_5618.jpg

So, this was the last update I checked at 0700 yesterday morning....that was a projection for 1700 hours, and that 94mph marker just south of me wasn't looking real promising. However, it appears the storm stayed a bit more off shore than predicted as it passed by me. I believe we saw some gusts in the 65-70 range between 1700-1900 hours, but for the most part the rain and wind were pretty minimal all considering. I hope the rest of you guys up north are all okay.

The wind let up here but the snow keeps piling up. I'll go out and measure in a little while.

Yikes! Looks like my neighborhood last January. Almost 7 days with no power and temps in the 20s. One neighbor had 2 trees through the roof and they won't be able to move back in until well into next year.

No injuries I know of which is great. I probably saw 50 trees that took out power lines on my 45min trip over there. More downed powerlines than I have ever seen, in many cases broke the poles as well. In some places the cell towers have run out of juice so only SMS get through. Alot of these neighborhoods look like warzones. This may be a 5-7 day power outage type event for many locations. There are tree crews out working but realistically a crew can only do a few houses a day.

Reminded me of Clinton's inauguration storm. My mom's house had 5 100ft cedars on it. It survived cause it was a timber framed house with old growth timbers.
    Glad you are all safe!

Just bought two “power stations” on Prime Day. Didn’t lose power during this storm, but we were lucky. It’s been a back-burner item for a few years, but now that the wife handles all the comm/social media for our church not being able to communicate isn’t an option. After driving around yesterday and having to deal with humanity’s inability to navigate traffic lights w/o power, I don’t ever want to leave the house again in this situation.

Starlink + power station = winning

What did you buy? Ecoflow has some pretty good pricing right now.

I have a Delta 2 and the Delta 2 Extra Battery. We use it every weekend camping in the summer. It runs the Starlink Gen 3 at around 50w for almost two full days. I'm hoping to upgrade to the Delta 2 Max or the Delta Pro maybe.
