I failed inspection twice no check engine light. He said o2k sensor but on the paper it says it's ready. Something is wrong with evap control and the catalytic converter. What's common stuff to look for. I got no codes when scanning the OBD2 at home.

Did you get a written Inspection Report detailing the failures? Post it up so we can have a look.

Your drive cycles aren’t complete for testing, the evap one takes forever to make ready, the o2 readiness should go away or be ready after about 50 miles of driving(try to hit the interstate)

My thought exactly, you haven't hit readiness on all required emissions items yet ^^

Every state has its readiness requirements, you may not have met all the requirements for your state, as in, you recently cleared codes and haven't driven enough to get to the required readiness. It's possible the truck will pop another CEL when it finally reaches the state of readiness required. This is why you can't, for example, drive up to the emissions place with bluetooth dongle installed, step out of the car for them to test, reset the codes over bluetooth as they're starting the test.

EVAP needs to be complete, and if you weren't tossing any EVAP codes prior, that should happen soon enough. Go do 10-15 miles of interstate, 5-10 miles of normal stop-and-go traffic, then 10-15 miles of interstate. That has typically done it for other vehicles for me.

Note that some tools supporting scanning also support deeper diagnostics and instant readiness testing. For example, Tech2 for GM and VAG-COM/VCDS for VW, both of which I've owned/used, let you immediately perform all required readiness checks. It appears Techstream for Toyota does support it, but I've never used either for that. My OBDLink MX+ dongle supports readiness reporting at state-by-state level, but I don't think it operates as aforementioned diag tools do, I don't know of a way to trigger specific readiness tests via their app.

I did a hour of driving prior to the second one and still failed. Both highway and city. I'll try again today. Also on the paper the guy gave me it said my O2 was ready. But he said it wasn't. So why's that?

There are two o2 monitors, one is a heater circuit and the other is catalyst efficiency

FYI, you have no engine type in your truck info, aka the "One Line Vehicle Description" HERE ... It's answered, but just saying, why tell us your truck is black?! But not if it's a V8, V6, 2WD, 4WD?!!!! We want to help! That helps us help!!!

Can you show us the scan, with whatever info you need to redact, redacted?

Ok, so, looking at YOUR FSM HERE, which you should download a copy of, I searched for the word "readiness", I came up with the following for your V8 / 2UZ-FE engine. It's important to always look at the title of the page you're on in the FSM to ensure it matches your engine.

In there, it references the drive cycle you need to follow, which is "LA-4" also known as "FTP-75" when I consulted Wikipedia on the subject.

Oh and @Otakutoaster, from the Wiki article, I may be misinterpreting this, but ... it appears LA-4 requires at least one cold start, at least one hot start, and at least 10-¼ non-stop miles of travel not going higher than 60mph, where the average speed is around of 48mph or greater. But that's not the only thing in the test? The method I mentioned of 10-15 miles interstate, 5-10 miles of stop-and-go in traffic, followed by 10-15 miles of interstate has almost always worked for me, without fail, in most (not all) cars I've owned.

So I should drive home then to the emissions place but before that get a cold start in then a hot start?

I think we're all having a difficult time answering that w/o seeing the contents of the report.

I'd like to say, "heck yeah, that's the ticket!" but without seeing the actual report, I don't fully know what's failing. Like, you have a V8, and it has two banks. Is it bank 1 is OK, but bank 2 is NOT READY? There has to be something in the 2nd report that shows the current status, I would hope, to a granular level, and not just a top level PASS / FAIL.

When I'm done getting my tires on I'll go and try again. Who knows maybe I'll pass and if I fail again I'll send a picture of the paper.

One cool thing about having a decent quality OBDII tool/scanner is it literally shows you readiness and any tests waiting to complete, or already completed. Here’s an example from my truck. I cleared codes on Sun/Mon and I’m good to go already. (There are about 20 more tests in the list below the 5 showing)

I put on another 300 miles and passed. I didn't need to drive extra before going. I just checked with my OBD2 scanner and it said good so I took it to emissions and passed.
