    Hey yall,

Just wondering how many people here have high milages FFV motors in cold climates with no issues?

I just brought my FFV with 64k miles up to Northern Maine so I will update as well after this winter. We are destined to see plenty of negative days so we'll see how it goes!

Not as cold as Maine, but no weather related issues in Michigan with mine so far. 205k, I did replace the fuel pump last year.

Good to hear! Have you ever run E85?

I bought my 2012 a little over 2 1/2 years ago with 63k miles. When I stumbled on this forum around that time I learned of ffv issues with hard starting in colder climates. I was mad at myself for not knowing this and waiting for a non ffv. However, it seems that not all ffv vehicle's have this problem consistently as I haven't had any issue as of yet. I did buy the xtool ds7 to be able to reset alcohol percentages but haven't had to use it yet. It's a great tool to have for the peace of mind if you're concerned.

Amazon has them available as well but I bought mine direct.

lastly, I personally wouldn't consider your truck high mileage...

Yes, this is the way to go.

At the bare minimum, get an inexpensive code reader so that you can check the fuel alcohol percentage regularly. If it starts creeping up past 30% or so, I would then look for a reader (such as below) or a shop that could reset it for you. You want to prevent the fuel pump from going into E85 mode. It can happen whether you use E85 or not. If you do this, the fuel pump should not burn out early.

Oh, I don't consider my truck high mileage at all! I have a 1996 4runner with 204k and a 2005 Corolla with 290k right now and I don't even consider those high mileage yet!

I was just wondering if there were some people into the higher mileages living in super cold climates with no issues. We can see -15 or colder up here in the middle of winter.

    Thanks for the replies yall!
