By the sound effects, sometimes even at low speeds. And when stopping. And on turns.

Blood and Black Lace (1964). Cinema Box, dubbed. I found the plot line mediocre and lacking of creativity. Listed in horror genre but found it more along the lines of a drab murder mystery.

Re-Animator (1985). FreeTube. Silly but entertaining.

Only Lovers Left Alive (2013). Paramount+. Interesting take on the vampire story. A good watch.

The Wicker Man (1973). Cinema Box. Dang, I did not remotely see that ending coming, nicely done.

Bambi Meets Godzilla (1969). Youtube. A rewatch after coming across it on IMDB. Classic.

Son of Bambi Meets Godzilla (1999). YouTube. Meh. Recommended by youtube after watching BMG.

The Mist (2007). Tubi. A bit hokey at times, but overall, an entertaining watch. I was hoping to see more of Andre Braugher.

Death Proof (2007). As a stand alone film, it has 20+ additional minutes over the version in Grindhouse. Both are entertaining but, them poor Mopars.

Watching Peter Gunn on Roku. Peter Gunn was the first detective show that the character was specifically developed for TV. He had good taste in women that's for sure. Lola Albright, as Edie Hart, was a total babe. The music is phenomenal and that alone makes it worth watching. They made the actors work back then as each season had 38 episodes.

I've been watching this off and on.

I have a longtime surfing buddy that grew up in Hawaii and his Dad appeared now and then, usually a couple of lines as an HPD officer or bank security guard. It's always fun to be watching an old rerun and all of a sudden you're like "Hey, Mistah Garcia!"

Currently streaming "Bosch" on Prime and "The Ranch" on Netflix.

I kinda' pooh-poohed The Ranch when it came out without ever watching it, it's actually pretty good.

It is a little spooky watching Danny Masterson's character on the show (filmed from 2016-2020) being a total perv horndog creep with him now serving time in prison for two counts of rape.

American Psycho (2000). Paramount+. Good performance by Bale. Not as gore’y as I thought it would be. The apartment sequence at the end did confuse me.

Scream (1996). Max. More silly comedy than horror.

They Live (1988). Peacock. Big when it came out, then quickly disappeared. I found it a campy sci-fi horror flick.

Saw (2004). Peacock. Very well done - I was impressed by plot and performances. With that title, I thought the film would be relying on gore but it didn’t.

28 Days Later (2002). Dailymotion. Zombies, UK style. These zombies are fast! Enjoyable watch.

Housebound (2014). Tubi. This was looking to be your typical haunted house horror flick, but then came the twists and turns. A nice little gem from New Zealand.

The Shining (1980). Max. Good acting and memorable one-liners but was not impressed with the story, and didn’t find the film that scary.

Halloween (1978). Plex. Let the slashing begin. Classic horror flick.

Videodrome (1983). Peacock. Pretty good special effects for 80’s. Envious of Woods in bed with a naked Deborah Harry.

E.T. (1982). OK site. A good film for kids. Pretty lame now, I’m sure I may have liked it more when it came out.

7th Heaven (1927). Tubi. Better than Wings for the Oscar in my book in 1st Academy Awards ceremony. Gaynor won for best actress, and Farrell was good too.

Brief Encounter (1945). PlutoTV. Well made film about an affair cut short.

Broken Blossoms (1919). Tubi. Interesting silent movie. Based on a play; so, can’t really fault it for the pedophile overtones, and turns out, the director toned it down from the play. The acting seems routine for the times. An average silent film in my book.

The Phantom Treehouse (1984). Youtube. An Australian animated film. Not overly inventive but I’m sure it would appeal to pre teens.

Vertigo (1958). OK website. Typical solid Hitchcock thriller. You can’t take a break on this one, lest you miss a crucial scene.

Killer of Sheep (1978). OK website. “Set in the Watts area of Los Angeles, a slaughterhouse worker must suspend his emotions to continue working at a job he finds repugnant, and then he finds he has little sensitivity for the family he works so hard to support.” Good watch.

Harlan County U.S.A. (1976). Max. Intense documentary account of 1973 coal miners strike in TN. Documentary Oscar in 1977.

Searching for Sugar Man (2012). OK site. Fascinating documentary of a forgotten American songwriter/musician, Sixto Gonzalez, whose two albums in early 1970’s fizzled. Somehow his music enters South Africa and is embraced by a generation opposing apartheid, eventually leading to Sixto’s mild musical resurgence. I downloaded the first album, Cold Fact, and it is pretty good. He passed away last year; RIP Sixto. Documentary Oscar in 2013.

My wife got a new iPad and got a free trial of Apple TV. Just finished watching Disclaimer. Pretty good. Leila George is smoking hot in it.

Also watching Bad Monkey, also Apple TV.

Babe (1995). Max. Tender and inspiring.

Outer Range (2024). Prime. Completed S2. I enjoyed this time traveling mind bender. Too bad Amazon killed the show. S2 ended with an unresolved storyline. Maybe another studio will pick it up.

Hadn't heard of it. Looks interesting. If you like that, you may like Midnight Mass, a short series also on Netflix.

Watched Midnight Mass, thought it was good... I can see the comparison

This series is interesting and trippy, and then bam you're like WTF  Definitely my kind of humor...

4 Seasons 10+ Episodes each. I'm 4 episodes in and just hope it can keep me coming back.

The Wild Blue Yonder (2005). Tubi. A yawner. An alien from the Andromeda system narrates about his journey and presence on earth. Heavy use of what appears to be public domain footage.

Silent Running (1972). Movieland TV. The film has that Logan’s Run feel. A drama film with short doses of special effects, but with a bleak ending. Surprised it has a G rating. It was intriguing how they powered the three work drones, with leg amputeed stunt-actors

    I Married a Stranger (1997). Tubi. Interesting-weird animated film.

El Topo (1970). OK site. That was one weird film. The story line felt too discombobulated. I agree with a reviewer who said the director is sticking a middle finger to the audience.
