I replaced the LBJ's (OEM). I tightened the nut to the correct torque (117 ft-lbs) and the cotter pin slot was just past the hole. I had to increase the torque to 145 ft-lbs to line up the next slot.
    Is this a problem?

Same bolts that were there before? If so may consider new ones - I prefer the black ones if you're gonna use the dust covers. There is a post somewhere here about the relative strength of each color bolt along with how many times they can be re-tightened and how much strength they loose with each re-tighten.

No problem, that's typical for a castle nut with cotter, and you did exactly what you're supposed to. Get up to torque, then give it the little nudge to get to the next hole. As long as at least half the height of the cotter is captured by the crowns on the castle nut, you're golden.

pics? You shouldn't have to tighten it THAT much to get things to line up. But maybe I'm trippin

that's the mounting bolts. Not the castle nut

Thanks for the assurance. That's what I usually do but so many issues with these LBJ's. I did use new OEM bolts and blue thread locker.
