Hello all! I apologize for "another thread, but...

I've been searching across threads and couldn't find anything to answer a specific question regarding Rhino Rack install on a Snug Top Super Sport.

I purchased this 2019 CM with the Super Sport and does NOT have tracks installed, so I am going full kit.

When I talked with Rhino-Rack, they told me they have not tested their tracks on my specific topper and offer nothing more than that. They tell me to contact a local installer to see if they can come up with an answer.

There is a seller on Amazon that sells the kit (inlcuding) tracks and specifically labels the tracks as able to fit my topper, but that's not verified by Rhino-Rack.

I'm assuming it's not any different than other manufacturers, but I wanted to see if anyone here has installed on the Snug Top models.

I know I can also install the Thule tracks and purchase the fitment kit for RR, but if I can do a one-stop shop, I would prefer that.

    Thanks!

I agree with Rhino-Rack in that asking a local installer would yield you the best answers. Drilling holes into an expensive topper is not for the faint of heart.
I purchased my ARE MX with tracks knowing how troublesome it can be to get the tracks installed later. Also, be cautious of the dynamic load your shell can carry.

    Edit: Welcome to the forum!

No idea why you couldn’t install the Rhino on your Snugtop. I installed that Rhino aero bars and rack on my 2019 with ARE CX classic and my 2000 with ARE Mpulse. No trouble with either.

I hear ya. I've watched a few videos and have checked out Snug Tops website. They offer Yakima tracks during build out, but I've seen an outfitter company use Thule, so, it looks straight forward.
    I appreciate the response.

Thank you! Looks great. Yep. I think, if anything, I'll do a Thule tracks system and install the Rhino Rack.

Holman rack (~50 lbs), ARB awning (30 lbs), 2x6 treated wood canoe adapters, 57 lbs canoe + dust shield (dunno, 10 lbs?) on LEER cap. Survived 3k miles wilderness trip, half of that was gravel.

Yes. The rack was recommended in this thread, I never heard of them before that: https://www.tundras.com/threads/i-want-to-carry-a-boat-to-wilderness.140920 Installation was not difficult, I did it with another hernia come back and temporary inability to seat or otherwise bend spine :)

The rack is a lot of money, but they all are nowadays, right? And it is contractor-grade, always ready for use, with retractable straps permanently mounted, so I can do an impulse purchase at Home Depot and still be able to bring it back home on my own ;)

Most everything was recieved. Measurements were taken and rack is put together. I have most everything I need to install. Funny, I was trying to track down the screws and "capnuts" but nothing came up.

I planned on installing today, but last night, I was poking around on e-trailer.com and front and center was what I was looking for. Thanks, internet. Ha!

My question is, what length screws did everyone use? My honeycomb is 1/2" and all screws I've found are 1". Local hardware stores don't have anything and even stopped in to our local Fastenal to find they too only have one inch, but can obviously order what I want.

Right now, I'm going with 10-32 steel U bought from Fastenal and the supplied capnuts from etrailer, OR, if the 1" works, I'll just do the hole kit in stainless steel.

    https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Yakima/Y8810155.html

I called SnugTop to verify driving inside or outside of the reinforcement "honey comb"

I was told they install and recommend "inside" the reinforced honey comb.

I called again just trying to figure out what thickness the actual shell is and was told she didn't know. I then called the other number in their contact page and got the same woman.

Anyway, I'm excited to get this installed, but now won't be done until after we get back home from a family trip out of country.
