I expect to take delivery of my ‘25 Tundra in about a month and that seems to be a good “bang for the buck” upgrade. Also, appears to be relatively easy to do.

Anyone want to trade their red NYTOP front recovery points for their black ones? If not I'm thinking of painting my black ones blue.

Just bought 2024 platinum off road model, found a set of TRD Pro wheels and powder coated them all black again since they had some scratches. Tires are 285/75r18 roughly a 35” tire.

Super easy, but unless you are very small with smaller hands I wouldn't attempt to do it from the top. It takes very little time to pull the head unit out, just follow the directions and take it slow so you don't break any clips. I'm bull/china shop with these kinds of things normally and I didn't break anything FWIW.

I'll say that after having this in all week, the difference it makes is pretty substantial. No, it doesn't make your $500 JBL compete with a system that cost thousands, but it makes a remarkable difference in clarity and separation. Way less muddy, bass tones are also way clearer. For me it's great that I can listen at lower dB and still hear the rich details. Stock JBL, I had to crank it LOUD to hear anything subtle in the music - no more.

I am hoping to reuse my DB cover, racks and tent. I have the other stuff and wheels in the local Craigslist so I will end up giving it away in the end!

Glad to hear your experience and appreciate the warning about installation. I watched a video from TRD Jon on how to install and looks very doable though I will go slow to avoid a screw up!

Thanks, I will check out the pump situation! It sounds like something the extended warranty would cover.

It also appears that the truck will have a Denso HP4 pump as the CP4 was replaced due to failures.

    Injection System Direct injection
    • High pressure common rail system
    • Denso GS4 Gen-III solenoid fuel injectors (up to 7 injection events per combustion sequence)
    • Denso HP4 injection pump
    • 29,000 psi max injection pressure

Looking good. I want to buy tires in this size, but I can’t get a clear answer on if they will fit without rubbing. I have a 1 inch level and +18 offset wheels. Does your truck have any kind of lift/level?

@Duckinatruck where abouts are you located. If you were close by, you could try mine to see if they rub on your setup. They did rub a bit on mine at +15 but my Toyos are pretty wide. The rubbing occurred on the mudflaps so I trimmed and pushed them back. Still a bit of touching on the steel stub.

Some tire shops will bring in some tires for a test fit as well. Try reaching out to one you like and give that a try. It really seems that everyone has a different result with rubbing.

In western Oregon, but I appreciate the offer and info. What kind of mileage hit did you take? I do a lot of short trips in a pretty hilly area, so I’m generally around 14 MPG. I have my eye on some Falken Wildpeak AT4Ws in 285/70/18 C load, but they are 68 pounds. Looks like yours are about 60. Being that you live in Vancouver, B.C., I’m thinking we drive in pretty similar terrain.

How was the install and what are your initial impressions? I’m very deep down the running board rabbit hole. Primary need is the ability to get the misses into the truck after installing 285/60r20 KO3 tires.

Install was super easy and straight forward. I love the way they look and would highly recommend. i have the 3 inch factory lift so i was running into the same problem as you with the wife trying to get in. I wanted something that didnt hang too low like a predator step. I had predators on my tacoma and ended up smacking them on a rock. I dont plan to do any aggressive offroading so i didnt need to pay the premium for sliders. I think i paid $402 out the door. Good luck in your search and post pics when you get em on.

I have the same running boards. Love them, and the wide design really keeps rocks and mud off the truck plus, I hope, will save me from becoming a member of the cracked seat panel club.

So grateful for your post! I have a Platinum TRD OR w/ factory lift coming next month and have been scouring the forums looking for the info you provided. Was trying to find out if the automatic steps from Toyota would work since they aren’t an option with the TRD package (the configurator tool won’t allow both.)

So, you don’t find the step to the RC boards to be too high? My wife is 5’6” and don’t want to hear the complaints - “you paid this much for a truck and I can’t get into it without a running start?!”

    Hey bud,

To be honest I didn’t document anything from the install, one of my flaws haha after dozens of car/truck builds. What I can say is all the wires were routed next to the factory harnesses to the engine bay under the step plates on the side. As far as the hose, I routed it through the exit from the cab hole that was connected to the JBL subwoofer. I trimmed the housing to pass the hose through. I routed the hose to bed above the rear bed liner, lots of spots to zip tie it to make it secure. I do recommend buying the clips that hold the fender liner in place as you break them all during removal, super cheap on Amazon. Cutting the bed to make the bracket hole is super easy too, when you buy the bracket it comes with a stencil. It was a very easy but extremely time consuming install. I know this may not be much help, but if you go this route feel free to message me during the process and I will provide all the help I can. Cheers
