Adding Volume Controls to 2017 SR Extended Cab

Hello,
I'd like to add volume controls to my steering wheel. Does anyone have any experience with this? Easy? Difficult? I still have to OEM radio installed.

Pull that trim piece and see if you even have the harness that's prewired.

Your truck is either a double cab or crew max cab.
There are no 2017 extended cabs.

I was digging around about that.
He has the Z3 connector that would have the phone and DISP wiring, but not sure if his SR would have the up/down/vol up/vol down wiring.

Now, here are some wiring diagrams for said volume buttons.
You could remove those trim pieces and see if you have the wiring as well as look at the back of the radio.






On the Z3 look for the black with white stripe pin 9
The green wire pin 7
the red with white stripe pin 9



J139 will be on the back of the radio.


Look for the grey wire pin 22
Lilac wire pin 23
Beige wire pin 21



Then of course you'll need the pad part.
I'm not sure you can buy that in black since SR parts are black and every other trim they are silver.
I think some guys bought black 4Runner pads and they fit the Tundra.

 

Wiring diagrams remind me that I still.need to look at them to see if I can figure out my issue. It's been going on for over a year now so I haven't even messed with it.

 

What's the issue?

 

When unlocking or locking with the key fob I have to hit the button 3 or 4 times before the lights will flash.

 

With either remote?
I'm assuming you have 2 of them.

 

Yes. I even replaced the batteries in both of them.
