Yeah, right. If I search for "Volvo pickup truck" Google even offers me to buy a certified pre-owned Volvo pickup truck nearby.

 

That channel is fodder, complete bullshit, engineered to garner views. I've never been able to source the content, but the content is garbage, graphics are typically AI and/or from car shows where they're highlighting concept cars, it's always using a robovoice reading off scripted content that sounds copy/pasted from articles online which is typical of tech/support channels based out of South Asia, Pan-Asia, and/or Indo-Pacific.

Not adding any opinion to my words, other than "I'm not a fan of clickbait & misinformation, and that entire channel is nearly always clickbait & misinformation"

my 05 tundra was a 70 mph rollover. airbags didnt deploy. the deploying method is a bit more complicated than people assume on more modern cars (yes these are modern by airbag standards) it all depends on where its hit and shock loads. because airbags can cause more bad than good in some situations

On Oct 29, I was driving my 2004 Tundra Double Cab on a rural two lane highway at 55 mph, a deer ran across the highway from right to left directly in my path. No time to brake or swerve. I broadsided the good sized buck with the center of the front end of the truck. Pushed the bumper and grill 18 inches into the engine compartment and bent the hood up at a 20-30 degree angle. The airbags did not deploy. Original owner. 180K miles. No airbag issues other than the Takata recall years ago.

Insurance totaled it (correctly IMHO).

 

Sorry for your loss, and glad you're OK. You planning on picking up another 1st gen after that? I'd have expected deployment in that situation. Is it possible the SRS/airbag light bulb was burned out (or more likely non-functional, as happens sometimes with lights on the '00-'04 trucks) and you didn't see a code was set?

Glad you are OK. Also, be glad the airbags didn't go off. I do not fancy my steering wheel exploding into my face. That has been known to knock people out, break noses and facial bones, knock out teeth, and break jaws. NO THANK YOU.

Two summers ago my wife and I had a front-row seat to a two vehicle MVA. I'm pretty sure the driver of the smaller car was disoriented due to the airbag as she was a shorter girl and probably had to move her seat forward. She had a bad abrasion to her left arm which I could not account for until I realized it was likely from the side curtain airbag.

 

This, an airbag deploying while you're rolling over would most likely cause you injury more than anything.

Air bag sensors are located in areas where they believe the impact would cause the driver to go into an area where the bag would "catch" you; keeping you from whippin your head foward/sideways

As one who has been in an 2 accidents that involved airbags going off.

They meet federal vehicle safety standards. They are designed to deploy when needed. Even though your accident appears horrific, you are okay. So you didn't need the airbags. I work in aviation crash safety, and we fielded an airbag system for some helicopters. You have to reach certain thresholds for them to arm. You probably didn't meet those. Also, I've been in two accidents myself where the airbags deployed.

CAUTIONARY NOTE: Do yourself a favor, and never let a passenger rest their legs up on the dash. You don't want to know what will happen to you if the airbags deploy, it will be ugly. I see people doing it on the highway all the time.
