Kinda. She's with NARS. Among her responsibilities are overseeing NARS' sales, sales staff, and inventory in something like 76 different Ultas, Sephoras, & Nordstroms across 7 states.

We like to joke that she's the diversity hire in the cosmetic world - conservative, heterosexual, bonafide female! She's just really good with people.

Tonight's birthday week adventure I told the girls that if they bowled a 200 game I'd throw them $200 bucks.

first game their scores were 141 and 102. Second game they threw 176 and 98.
I threw 89 and 72. Damn I suck at bowling.

 

Sephora is twice the cost for the same things. I just don't get it.

 

I just get the 8lb ball and turbo spin the fucker down the lane. I am lucky to break 100, but it is still a blast.

 

Our local Ulta is in the police blotter on occasion for the grab-n-dash events. I am sure your wife loves writing off all that shrinkage.

It must be universal! Ultas are a shit magnet.

She recently had to cancel a sales event at an Ulta due to larceny. He broke into the vacant store next door, then carved a hole in the wall to get into the Ulta, army crawled along the floor to the salon portion where there was some inventory, put it on a dolly and drug the dolly along the floor as he crawled back to his hole. Like a fucking rat.


Another Ulta of hers was a crime scene - one morning the store manager arrived to find a car blocking the rear entrance. Inside the car was a guy with his head blown off.

For valentines one year, I bought her a Sig P938, thinking it was small enough to easily conceal. Ulta refuses to let her have it while she’s in a store due to “safety reasons.” In fact, some of the stores now have guards… unarmed guards. Absolutely stupid. She avoids visiting the problematic Ultas as best she can, and she avoids staffing them as well.

 

Agreed. I’ve done as much encouraging as I can to have her conceal it but she reasons that she’ll lose her job if a store reports her to corporate.

We compromised - she’ll at least have the gun in her car, but also keep a tiny keychain can of mace on her while in store.

Ulta is bad enough on the pocketbook with a wife and 2 teen daughters. Sephora is just stupid. My 15 year old went there with her friends and I could 't believe how much money she spent for what little she got. Granted, it was her money she worked for, but just crazy. Thankfully we take a percentage out of her income for savings so her blowing the rest of it on what she wants is our way of teaching her the choices are hers to squander or save more.
