When you winterize it don’t forget to run plumbing antifreeze throught the exterior shower and through the city water inlet. Anode should be removed from the water heater and drained then bypassed to complete the winterization. Add antifreeze to the drains so the traps don’t freeze.

Soloist Alpha trailer. It is awesome at just a little over 800-lbs. Has enough power to go indefinitely off-grid, outdoor shower, propane heat, etc. I have only used it a couple of times but gets a lot of attention at a campsite. Unfortunately, I am not able to use it for the near future due to a recent cycling accident.

 

I saw the bumper pull and the Air in person, I like the layout, but it didn't feel "premium", it felt like they just use better color combo, the rear opposing slide outs are literately same as ones on Grand Design even the same layout.

I wasn't really impressed, it's almost near Airstream price but just feels like a nicer Jayco.

 

My impressions of the Air when I first went into one was that it gave me that same feeling GD used to before they became mainstream and closer to the rest of the pack in terms of finish. GD still has great layouts, but I think Brinkley is filling that old GD niche (as they should given ownership and R&D model). Time will tell, though. I know GD is trying to reclaim their reputation.

 

I really hope GD does, still looking for that ideal next trailer.

 

Not sure if I already posted this but we got a new to us R-Pod. Love it - only have had it out once since the wife's breast cancer diagnosis / treatment / etc, but now that she is feeling better and the prognosis is great, we are planning for the spring and summer!!!! We are excited to get out and enjoy it.

 

I installed a mini split in our RV last week. Presently running it in heat mode. It sure beats the propane heat and is so quiet!

 

The black lead runs to the evaporator( inside unit). The yellow line is my temporary power supply to the entire unit. I want to run it off temp power until I know how much juice it needs. Once I'm confident, I'll delete one of the useless roof air units.

I have plenty of shock absorbing copper line available so I don't stress the line set too greatly. Running down the road for 800 miles is going to stress things, I'm sure.

 

Thanks for the insight. Seeing it in person is definitely different than watching a video from a salesman. We were looking at three different RVs and I was pretty sure which one I was going to buy but after seeing them in person I picked the one I didn’t think was a contender. We picked a Grand Design because it was the better RV that had the least issues. Unfortunately when shopping for RVs in 2024, you pick the least crappy one.

 

It’s here! Thanksgiving camping has arrived! Loaded up and headed out.

I took mine to get winterized yesterday and found I had a roof leak; VERY early and we haven't had rain in like 40 days but we did have a snow the other day. Did some inspection and found the roof spoiler on the rpod had separated from the roof causing an area of infiltration. I have sealed it and am prepared to strip the caulk, prep the surface and reseal. Will probably use eternabond as well. Hoping that was the root cause and that there are no more surprises.......

Welcome to the club. You will have to inspect all your roof/side seams every year! It sucks, but it has to be done.

 

Yeah I am pretty religious about it. Just glad it was caught. I waited a little longer than usual to wonterize because I thought we would get out one more time. Probably wouldn’t have noticed it if not for the drips on the carpet at the entryway when I opened the door to access the faucets…..I got the cracks sealed and have tarted it for now until I can get up there, scrape off the old stuff and reapply dicor. Will be a pain in the ass but worth it for peace of mind

Alot of travel trailers and overland set ups. Am I the only guy running a slide in on a tundra? I'll admit it's a bit sketch

 

Picked up this new '24 Micro Minnie 1821FB this weekend. Got 8mpg towing it home to Utah through strong headwinds and up and over I-70 in Colorado.

 

I have pulled a 264BHW all over the western US, including some really rough winds in Wyoming and Utah. The Tundra has zero issues pulling this guy ofer the Rockies and the Sierras or across the Mojave in summer. I would not go any bigger or heavier though. I have upgraded the mirrors since this was taken, the BAP mirrors are a vast improvement over anything Toyota offers.

Just picked it up last week and itʻs winterized and in storage until spring. Really looking forward to easy towing with smaller trailer and Tundra.

We had a new 2022 Odyssey Integra 27U class-c motorhome, it had major system failures every time we took it out. Plus numerous other annoying quality problems.
Got an 8k settlement from Jayco and Ford (not enough) and once everything was glued together we sold at a loss and ordered the Lance. This is our second Lance and we hope we finally hit the sweet spot!

 

OK so I lost some steam here last year when I planned to do this mod... got sucked into buying a new built trans. Anyway - just ordered the universal puddle lights (returned the tundra ones made for the stock mirrors as they aren't designed for what I'm doing) and the lower caps for the BAP mirrors to have as a spare just in case this crashes and burns and I need to swap back to my BAP stock lowers (the ones without the 1.5" hole in them).

Wiring should be easy, just need to add a pin for the new puddle light and add to the existing harness. My truck already has the wiring on the truck side, so it should be fairly simple.

Not sure I'll have everything by this weekend so will likely do next week at some point in the evening.
