I am excitedly awaiting the nighttime photos. Hoping to do something similar on my truck this winter.

Put some gas in it. Mostly around town driving with a few trips out to the airport. 14.5mpg.

Doesn't sound too bad. I fear my in-town MPGs have dropped significantly since getting new tires.

With the new tires, most of my around-town driving requires just barely more constant throttle, keeping it right at the top of 2nd gear instead of shifting into 3rd. Before, at a constant 30mph, it would shift into 3rd and then sometimes even lock the converter. Need to do a scientific test. And maybe fix the speedo so it's accurate and shifts like it should.

Mine is usually around 15.5mpg. I’ll believe a 1mpg penalty for the bigger tires. However if I correct for the larger tires difference vs Speedo/ Odo, it’s actually 15.5mpg like always.

I was surprised that I got 14mpg mixed driving, including some 4x4 in the snow, with the slide-in camper. 12mpg the next tank. I can handle that.

I took the truck elk hunting. But I'm opportunistic, and when I was headed back toward the truck and hadn't seen fresh tracks all morning and ran into a bedded-down deer, I decided not leave empty handed. She'll be good winter meat, and unlike an elk, I was able to quarter her and get her back to the truck in one trip. Still hurt though.

    image.jpg

This guy was camped way up in the mountains with a bunch of alpaca. I was confused for a while checking them out through the binoculars. Finally figured out what they were. Never saw his tent but I'm sure it was close by.

    image.jpg

Texan, big surprise :) These days we see more out of state plates than in state during hunting season on dirt roads.

no Mods... has new headlights and some dings on the side... just purchased a dent puller and Bilstein 5100's for it..... absolutely love it in the 2 weeks I've owned it...

Shifty.... we've engaged before and love your feed back (well respected) I recently put some aftermarket LED lights that I bought off of Scambay... and actually they look awesome... update the truck immensely and should be great for seeing where I'm going... the old lights were so dim. So I bought them a year ago and just put them on a couple weeks ago when my truck was stranded in my driveway.
So here is my dilemma, I bought a battery about 4 months ago and everything fine... (odd it died in middle of summer usually a fall/early winter fail thing for me - 1st red flag).... Then fuel pump went out... replace with OEM and still wouldn't fire up. Verified old fuel pump died and still the new fuel pump didn't seem to work. Broke the line (disassemble and no fuel) when turning over. Have spark!! Then so frustrated that I took it to a mechanic and spent 800.00 and all they did was put a new fuel pump in and it runs...
But I drove it over to get gas at night and noticed the lights getting dimmer... Alternator.... was that my problem all along? Oh forgot to mention that none of the dash works.. no RPMs no Miles per hour... no fuel tank read... nothing but lights....
And tonight I needed to move it and fired it up... and while running and door open I noticed it was dinging.... like when you leave the key in the ignition when it's not running....
I'm definitely changing the alternator tomorrow....
any idea if just the alternator will fix this?? Or anyone have experience? please chime in!!!

Love this truck and I will do all I can to preserve it.... Thanks for any help!!

They usually do. Back in 2018 they gave away free superbumps and ss braided brake lines with purchase of a full lift, on top of 5 or 10% off.

Realizing how nice it is on the back country roads to turn the dash lights all the way down and not have to look at that damned D. Really not convinced I need to replace it. Now if I could figure out how to turn the clock off, that's the only factory light in the cab that doesn't dim.

If you hate the clock and never want to see it again, I can think of a reversible, non-destructive way to do that.

Did the FJ Cruiser windshield washer nozzles and the door sill protectors from the youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt6YzErk-ds .

The windshield washer nozzles are the most satisfying upgrade for the price.

Sound good? My Papaw had an old air horn set up on the chebby that I'd like to recreate, but with no details, it's hard... You could hear that thing for miles, I swear! He probably got it at an auto parts store in the 80's or 90's

Sounds like a real truck horn. The tone is much better, a little deeper, definitely louder, but not blow you away loud. Just right.

Behind as usual after the weekend but why couldn't you just chop off the excess? More work I suppose but then it's gone and over with.
The 2000s have a different horn than all the rest of the years. I'm sure this was a worthwhile upgrade and horns are pretty cheap really.

I put dual horns on my wife's corolla since it only had a single. Just used a splitter harness and the body already had the mounting hole for the second horn and the horns had a Toyota style plug on them. Was only $35 or so.

I like those wheels better. The tri-tone look between the wheels, camper and truck was not working for me.

    Weight reduction, mostly rust.
Those look nice, reminds me of my "Outlaws". I think I like those a bit better than the gold ones.... ooooohhh shiny shiny.
Did you bring your torque wrench with you? Haha, you know, just to double check... im sure they are fine.

I watched him torque down by hand. Tipped the young kid $20, he really did right by me. One small scratch on a wheel (that I think the other guy did)

I also figured out my no start issue.

Spent money on it! $159/tire too good to resist. Will likely do all 5 TPMS sensors for peace of mind when I swap these out, and use one of my high tread chinabomb tires to replace the original dry rotted spare.

Anybody here have luck with aftermarket TPMS sensors or is this another $500-to-Denso-or-bust situation?

Nice! I just know last time a shop touched my wheels / tires for anything they must of had a gorilla put the wheels back on. The next time I took them off my impact wrench really struggled to get them off.

Putting them on, I generally get the nuts threaded by hand on to make sure nothing is cross threaded, use an impact wrench just to thread them the rest of the way (not cranking down on it, just a light tap or 2), then torque with a torque wrench. Don't want any broken studs...

What's up everyone? Its been awhile.

I wanted to post my own experience with replacing the injectors on my '01 w/~ 230k. I went with the Dirty Deeds replacements. What I will say is that the idle is smoother, running is smoother and shifting is smoother from an already impressive drive train. I'm very satisfied.

I can share a compatible sensor when I get back shortly. Wont be much less, though.

    It’s Stinger’s fault.
