It's not crazy when you run a food service business. It's your obligation to manage that business for the entire community. And also a requirement of you as a proprietor to maintain your annual license. If you get a violation for allowing non service based dogs in your establishment you can have your license revoked.

I'm saying that well-behaved dogs regardless if they are clearly marked should be left alone. I saw a dog in the grocery store a couple years back that was carrying its own leash with only eyes for its owner. Didn't glance my way and stayed on his owner's hip the entire time. It didn't say service animal on it but it wasn't hurting anyone or anything

Whatever this forum told me to do
here is where I stand firm.

say I'm eating in a food joint.

and you and your dog come sit next to us.

    I, in no way:

know the disposition of your dog
want to sit next to a dog
want to eat next to your dog
think it's proper to eat next to a dog.

and the rub is....the folks with dogs NEVER ask the nearby folks if it's ok to sit next to them.

Well, there's a reason that this thread had the title agree to disagree. I am in such firm disagreement with you lol. The way you just mentioned dogs this whole post I quoted, is how I feel about kids. Kids are always louder and more disruptive and more dirty than dogs ever are in restaurants. Kids are always screaming and they throw stuff and they're sneezing on things and putting stuff in their mouth. The dog just sits there staring hoping you drop some food.

    OK.

but I don't think dogs belong in eating establishments.

I guess the city inspectors think it's bad too.

"allowing" dogs in food joints is bad ju-ju to the other customers.

now, mind you, I would NEVER dime someone out. or cause a ruckus.

I would simply not transact bix there again

I can see both sides of the question.

On the one hand, I do think there's too much of an obsession with treating dogs like humans and taking them with you everywhere you go.

On the other hand, if your dog is well behaved, I don't have an issue with it. I'd rather see more dogs and fewer people when I'm out and about.

My dog doesn't go anywhere with us, other than when I walk him obviously, because he has anxiety issues and would not do well.

Ages ago not many service dogs wore vests and you could tell by their behavior that they were service dogs. Or trained properly to act as though so those dogs got away with it.

In today's world a lot of people tend to think that the vest gets them through the gate. Look at united airlines and the complications they were having because of so many problems with humans claiming that their service iguana (no shit) and other service animals could fly with them. The problem lies in the vest itself and the abuse of the privilege that legitimate service animals provide.

I'm with @LarryDangerfield, I don't see why a well behaved dog can't be in an establishment that serves food.

I will be making a closing statement and not taking questions from the media. Dogs are a gift to a humankind, one of the greatest gifts we have ever received. Non-judgmental, unconditional love, happy at the smallest life events, It doesn't get better than that. Rules are guidance and every situation should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Naughty dogs have to leave, well-behaved dogs have to stay. Do 85 in a 55 at 5:00 p.m. on a Friday? Sure give somebody a ticket. Do 85 in a 55 at 2:00 in the morning on a 1 mi straight stretch while sober with hands 10 and 2 driving defensively looking far ahead? Send them on their way.

Also please please please tell me that there's no one in here who thinks wearing a hat indoors is disrespectful. I never understood why teachers acted like you had a Nazi symbol on your head when you wore a hat in class.

I also never took her into any kind of food service location. She wasn't trained for it.

If I can ever get to the point of having another dog, I will have them trained as a service animal so they can go with me everywhere. I sorely wish I had spent more time with Stella.

Ugh. Rules are rules is quite possibly one of the most frustrating phrases in the whole world. Where I work we have to wear hair nets. Logical rational normal thinking would say if you don't have hair you don't need a hair net. I always shave my head. I still have to wear hair net. There is a guy whose head is so shiny it literally glistens from across the plant. He has to wear a hair net because rules are rules. That's ridiculous. I don't have to wear a beard net because I've been shaving my face so how come I still have to wear a hairnet when I shave my head?

Agree to disagree. I have no issue with a hat indoors. It affects no one but the wearer and it's their comfort.

This. Honestly, idc as long as it’s not barking or shitting /pissing. Idc. And, if it is doing the above it’s not a service animal. Even if it’s not a service animal, idc as long as it’s not above or it’s hairy and shaking everywhere
