I bought a 2008 tundra with JBL Soundsystem a couple of months ago. When I bought it, it already had an aftermarket head unit from 2014. There was far too much bass, but if I turned it all the way down on the head unit and all the way down on the phone it was tolerable. I just got a cheap new Amazon head unit (figured I would try it and return if it’s that bad) and bass is completely intolerable. Even with the bass turned all the way down on Spotify, and the head unit, it gives me a headache within minutes. It sounds like the base is all the way up to 10 on both, but it cannot go any lower. Is this really the head unit? The other one was barely any better. I even unplugged the sub in the back seat and it is still intolerable. Is that really how these systems are? I am truly not that picky when it comes to car audio but if I bought this car brand new, I would immediately take it back to the dealership and would not leave until they fixed it. It doesn’t seem like a low quality system. It seems like something is severely wrong. I can spend $500 on Joying or Daisata unit but really have doubt about the bass. The sound quality otherwise is not nearly bad enough to make me want to upgrade, but whatever it takes to get rid of this thundering booming bass. Thank you

Is the problem only on Spotify or is it also the same amount of bass on an over-the-air radio channel?

Also, when you look at ALL of the different menu options for your HU, is there a submenu that has a bass enhancer or extender that can be switched off, that is currently on.

Did the unit come with any instructions booklet? I’d look up on internet and find some so not missing anything you can adjust. I know, paper instruction booklets are so last century, but so am I.

Okay so i checked and there is no hidden bass feature that I can find. I also noticed it only plays through the driver door speakers. I read up a lot on the JBL system and I just need the simplest way to delete the amp, and change the head unit. I don't know what i'm missing as i've done a couple head unit swaps before and its always relatively simple. Can somebody explain it to me like I'm 5 years old? Is there a harness that I can buy to bypass the JBL amp? Do i have to rip out all the old audio and run all new wires? I have 2 connectors plugged in on my head unit but that leaves one connector unplugged from the cars end.

I also am only getting sound out of the front door speakers. Is this really the head unit? The other one was barely any better sound wise. I guess I just want the simplest way to make this sound decent. I am not looking for perfection at all, just a semi decent system. Is there an easy way to delete the JBL amp now that I have an aftermarket head unit? If its easier, should i just replace the amp? Again , I just want simple and decent, Thank you in advance!
