Mickey 275s have less than 2000 miles.

Wildpeak 285s are mixed datecodes/mixed tread: One pair have 2019 datecode with ~40-50% tread, other pair have 2021 date code with 70-80% tread, one of which has a nail in it. I was running 2019s up front, with hopes of wearing the rears down to match tread. No clue on miles, bought them used for ~$200 and plan to resell for roughly the same, $60/ea or $200 for all four. They're otherwise in very solid shape, PO took great care of them.

Has this happened to anyone? I’m guessing the rubber grommet around the antenna is discontinued.

Well Discount Tire said what I expected. My slow leak is due to the chunk of sidewall I left on a big rock at Merus. I have a habit of wrecking sidewalls and chewing up wheel rims. I guess I need stupid rock ring wheels. And kevlar tires. Always buy the tire certs. This'll be the fourth new tire I get for pennies on the dollar.

    Got two things done today.

My original Leer struts were definitely not awesome. I pulled one off and promptly got a gentle door to the forehead. Installed one of the new Suspa 35# struts I got for $20/pr shipped, and it held the door open. AGGRESSIVELY. Like, I think I should've gotten 28# struts. Word of caution on that, @455h0le_dachshund, if you haven't replaced yours yet. Once I get the door up to a 10 o'clock position, I can let go and it springs up quickly and totally holds, no bouncing, even with just one new 35# and one old 28#. My Leer 100R glass must be lighter than everyone else's alt-brand or high-rise. I hope I never have anything above the glass when I open it, there's enough force at 35# to shatter the glass.

Beyond that, I also popped in these knobs, which, frankly came white-boxed from scAmazon so they may very well be knockoffs, I dunno. Here's my take:
    • There's more knob surface to grab so, yes, they do definitely turn easier
    • There is a bit of light bleeding around the edge, mostly on the left-most knob
    • I didn't experience any issues (others reported) of one knob sticking out farther than the other
    • My center knob is solid, but the driver-side knob (the actual control post!) is wobbly, and you can push it in, and it springs out again, weird, right? The passenger side knob control has some play also, but it's like 75% less than the others, FWIW, I rarely touch the controls.
Anyway, pics or it didn't happen right? BTW, I'm using Sylvania ZEVO bulbs in the center dash, if it's interesting.

And a shot with all interior lighting OFF, including my USB mag light.

    upload_2024-11-7_13-21-15.png
Camper shell door just slams into my garage door that's immediately overhead now, and I can't stop it. Old and new strut in 1st pic, single 35# installed (with worn 28# on other side) in the 2nd pic.

Oh and if it's remotely intersting, here's a 285/70r17 Wildpeak AT3W on a 17x9 wheel with a 275/70r17 Mickey Baja Legend EXP on a 17x8.5 wheel sitting in the foreground of it from yesterday's wheel swap shenanigans, what I got done yesterday.

I mean, I should've lined up the treads nicer so they were apples-to-apples, the 275 is farther left making the 285 look wider, but perspective from location is playing a role too. You can tell the 285 is 1/2"" wider, but I think the 1/2" wider wheel probably plays a role in the width appearance also, maybe making it look even wider than it actually is. Tread width appears to be roughly identical in person.

Ok, nix that. I did one more thing to the Tundra today and it took under 10 minutes.

I bought the Dorman column shifter bushing to make this repair because my shift lever had become sloppy, thanks @w666. I wasn't sure if that was the actual cause of my sloppy lever but after this thread, I was curious, and it was $9, so ...

Needless to say, I definitely had the problem too. In fact, I would be shocked if there was a 1st gen that didn't have this problem based on what I found. Here's what I found when I took out the 3 screws holding the lower cover on, then popped the lower cover off.

There's a pro-tip below that'll help you with fixing yours, save you a little bit of fight, because yours is probably as FUBAR as mine was...

You see that brownish-orange plastic ring, and the shit down in the lower dash cover? That's my old bushing, rotted to hell. If you look at videos online, you'll see similar in the lower section of the dash from where the factory OEM bushing crumbled to bits.

    upload_2024-11-7_14-12-57.png
Well, the shift cable slid right off... and all that's left of it was this ring, the base of the bushing, which crumbled to pieces when I touched it.

    upload_2024-11-7_14-15-4.png
At least it was clean and ready for install... and here's your pro-tip, two actually:
    1. Before you start, tilt the column all the way up so you have extra space on the lower side.
    2. INSTALL THE BUSHING TO THE SHIFT CABLE hoop FIRST, then snap it on the post. I made the mistake of putting the bushing on the post first. I have man-size hands, but not hamfists or anything, but the limited space made it extremely difficult for my partially-arthritic hands to shove the cable hoop onto the bushing while it was installed on the post.
    upload_2024-11-7_14-19-0.png
Once you get to that point ^^ you can slap the bastard onto the post, and you're done.

I will say: There is still a bit of play with the metal plate that post sits on. But my lever went from having about 1-2" of slop in it while in Neutral to having less than ¼" of play in the same.

This video helped realize it'd only take a couple minutes and I could easily do it in the driveway. Hardest part is starting the truck to turn the wheel enough to reach the two screws hiding behind either side of the steering wheel.

Yeah, tire dimensions don't measure tread width, they measure sidewall to sidewall width when mounted on recommended rim size and inflated. Tread width can be the same between several different tire widths.

I don't have a camper shell, but the rear hatch hatch on my 4Runner pops up and hits the garage door in much the same way. I was able to fix a length of pool noodle to the garage door to prevent any damage to the hatch.

I'll hafta snap a pic of what I had to do for our SUV. In our case, it's opening the hatch when the garage door is closed. The adjuster bar for the door scratched the paint. I got silicone pan handles, hole-punched them, and tip tied it to the armature.

Replaced my rubber door stops. Old ones were quite soft, new ones are nice and hard, but it still didn't fix my door rattle. When I have more time I'll try tightening everything and taping the latches on the door sill.

    IMG_0139.jpg
And I'm jealous of all you guys that can fit your tundras in your garage. I'd have to pull all the shelving out at the front of the garage if I wanted to even get close to getting my back bumper near the garage door. Luckily I'm a firm believer in garages are for motorcycles and the driveway is for vehicles.
